Some of the uniform combinations this season are now known. Liberty White Out Day is Week 1 against the Colts. Battle Red Day is Week 8 against the Jaguars. Deep Steel Sunday is Week 13 against the Falcons.
random--would "the other" Steve Smith be a good upgrade over Kevin Walter? Coming off surgery, might be cheap..
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...somugha-free-agency/index.html?sct=nfl_bf2_a6 Houston mentioned. Just throwing this out there.
With their haul in the draft coupled with a possible forced spending frenzy, further coupled with what could be a flood of good FAs on the market.....Tampa could be right there with Detroit as surprise killers this season.
Not necessarily the "prize" of our FA....but echoes what I've been expecting - Sensabaugh to Houston is almost guaranteed, with Wade probably ignoring the rest of the safeties out there to bring in "his guy" Pretty much how this franchise operates. It's never about "who's the best guy we can bring in"....it's "I know that guy over there, let's go with him and not even look around at the options"
If that's how free agency plays out I will spend another year anxiously waiting for the next regime to take over.
This is how *every* franchise operates, FYI. Staffs hire and sign guys they're familiar with all. The. Time. Do you remember the first thing Buddy Ryan did when he got here? Brought Wilbur Marshall with him. This is such SOP, I'm shocked it even registers but, then... can this team do *any*thing that doesn't instantly provoke massive anger and vitroil from its fans? In the face of a massive transition, that is being greatly impacted by a work stoppage, how is answering one of it seems a billion defensive questions a bad thing? This just in: THEY NEED SAFETIES. GS knows the system and Phillips knows what he can and can't do. I know nothing about his production; if he's not a good player then, yeah - it's foolish. But otherwise, it makes 100% sense to bring in guys you know, especially during this offseason. Phillips is going to have a enough guys he has to get up to speed on a shortended schedule - why add one more?
I have no problem bringing in Sensabaugh, nor do I have a problem with them signing guys they are familiar with. Why would that be a bad thing? Unless they aren't signing good players and instead are opting for mediocre ones at real money. What's going to bother me is if they sign Sensabaugh, a mediocre CB, call it an offseason and go to war. Hopefully the next regime isn't so bad at filling out a roster that they max themselves out on the cap just to get to 6-10.
They *can't* do that. Well, I guess, technically, they can. But there's no way - none - they're going to enter the season with Jason Allen as their best CB. They will sign players.
Right, right. Pioli, one of the most-respected front office people in football, went to KC, hired a guy he worked with (Haley) as his head coach, brought in his old assisstants from NE (Weiss and Crennel), traded for his old back-up QB (Cassel), signed his former LB (Vrabel).......
i listed the high end guys. if mario and smith play to maxium ability, this team is a lot better than 6-10. there's no defending the kareem jackson pick, seems they were trying to pick a health dante clone and failed miserably. if he plays 50% better which wouldn't be hard since he was so bad and the ends have good season, this team is immenently better.
I don't get how all these sources are calculating their Texans cap total at between $113-118, unless they are already adding both the expected salaries for newly drafted rookie and assumptions that the Texans are resigning all their free agents. Is there a wide difference between between a players salary as one would see say here and their actual cap hold? If so is that due to guaranteed money allotments in their contract or what?
MM, everyone here knows their shortcomings. The issue is that *every* decision is met with derision. Not some. All of them.
Look, I'm the first one to go "Debbie Downer" on the Texans, but I would have no problem with them bringing in Sensabaugh. Is he an upgrade? Yes. So what's the problem?
No - *every* decision is met with Ric propaganda patrol. Your posts make it seem like we are a perennial playoff contender and fans have no right to complain which is asinine because they are/have been a laughing stock franchise.
