Also, I recommend donating a small portion to charity, if you're really not sure what to do with it.

Whatever you do noize, do NOT buy a whole life policy. it's a rip off. just buy term.

That is not a bad idea, buy some gold seriously. Also I feel sorry for all those people selling their gold to those infomercials.

I think it would be a great idea to buy gold and silver bullions. You can invest in 1oz bullions. It will be the best bang for your buck and you'll thank me in five years.

Explain to me how term is better than whole. This should be good.

I'll take term because personally I'd much rather pay a whole lot less per month and invest my own money. Or at least go with a company that specializes in investments.

I also strongly believe that any money you put toward life insurance should be used for just that, I wouldn't cash it out at any point.

Buy Bank of America stock...it's at it's 52 week low. Within 1 year, it'll go up 30-40%. That's not a bad return.

as a home owner for many years now, let me remind you of the fact that when (not If) something goes wrong with the house, you will wish you had just saved that cash in an emergency fund.

We have had to spend over 6K just on house repairs in the last three months. The drought disrupted both power and water lines. Its not like the house was falling apart, these were repairs that were totally caused by the ground movement due to natural causes.

Houses are nice to own, till you need to repair. An emergency fund or saving that can be accessed immediately when needed is essential for home owners

Thanks guys. A lot of great suggestion, but I think I favor this idea the most (excluding the gold). Preparation and the state of my well being is very important.

I don't know much about IRS investment though to those who mention it.

The silver is very tempting, maybe better then investing in stock,...need to research this some more.

Not to concern about life insurance when I have a good and ever increasing $401K plan which we do at my work.

    Again, thanks to all.

Got the same thing and I believe you'll have to pay it back over the course of a few years, so I would save it. You could also get some training for a professional certification of some kind, like a CFA or paralegal or what not, or go back to school.

Maybe read an article or two about BofA's low price and make sure it's not housing or credit related.

Be happy now - in several years you will be giving it back to Uncle Sam
on your income tax return. :(
