sounds like you ran into someone whose parents withheld them their food.

to the OP. you're just a mean dude calling out people that got the chunky end of the stick (genetically speaking).

this reminds me of a story....

Genetics definitely does have some say even if you don't want to hear it. I'm thin as a rail, yet I eat like a college student (unhealthy), and I haven't found time to go to the gym in like a year. I know it's not a healthy lifestyle, but I feel blessed that I can live that lifestyle without getting fat.

    ^ MEXICAN. (droxford)

Yeap, I have a tough time believing "it's genetics" or that people "can't fix their thyroid gland" or that "oh, their metabolism isn't fast enough"... but I guess I can talk about fat people or skinny people the same way, so as long as it's not insulting.

 Right... 'cuz people online act the same way as they do in person? Of course not. Stop bringing up how people are in real life.

Yes, I say "that's what SHE said" in person all the time... :p

See, this is a prime example of how fat people are bad for productivity. I'm not going to get anything done the rest of the day.

I'm saying that fatness is a choice. The others are not.

Yes everyone is easily offended about something, but if it's something they control they should either fix the problem or stfu and learn be thick-skinned.

I get ripped on for being in good shape but IDGAF

First, all medical science indicates that choice is not the only thing that plays a part in obesity. Genetics and other conditions can and often do play a large role.

Sorry, but I know too many people for whom this has been the struggle of their life. They have tried everything and tried hard: rigorous exercise, brutal diets, any method they can find. Because nobody wants them to lose weight more than they do. I have two friends who have had their stomachs stapled and still struggle on a daily basis. There is also the issue of addiction, which often plays a role, and not everybody can easily "choose" to overcome an addiction, especially one that is deeply rooted in their emotional health, as obesity often is.

You just come off as extremely callous and misinformed.

And poor baby for getting "ripped on" for what good shape you're in. That must be exactly the same as suffering the bigotry that obese people experience.

We can scratch Xerobull of the productivity list for the rest of the day. Might as well send him home. But dude, get a hold of yourself. Do not drive while under the influence of big boobie's? It will increase everyone's car insurance.

I suppose this is where I have the problem with CR and the rest who want to deny that genetics plays a significant role in this phenomenon. If you call out someone for being fat due to their unhealthy lifestyle choices, you're not only being a dick, but wilfully ignorant to boot. That's a complete non-starter for a conversation when your central assertion is based in some fantasyland delusion. Join the homosexuality-is-a-choice crowd across the hall and have a party bashing all the gay fat people for their terrible decision-making.

This is not about being offensive. There are factual errors in your argument and they are compounded by your need to be offensive. It's idiotic.

Fat people are less productive? Wtf?

My size 0 sister feels bad about her super thin legs and would kill for some hips. I'm know it's frustrating for her hearing everyone telling her she needs to gain weight, asking if she's "OK" (implying she has an eating disorder), telling her she needs to eat a cheeseburger. I know she takes her frustration and insecurities out by talking about all the "lazy disgusting fat asses" she encounters all the time. I don't know why people can't just be content with themselves.

Most of the fattest countries in the world are a result of what they eat. Genetics only affect a select view, tired of people making excuses. Also I hate the fact that some fat people actually get handicap parking.
