Lowry's best year: 13.5 points on 42.3% shooting with 6.7 assists 2.1 TO....

Those are bad numbers for any "star".

Ability to dunk? So could Harold Minor. Francis was more than that. His 21 PER year should have been one of his low years, at least until he started declining.

I still think Cat was a better player than Stevie. Cat could do it all, he was just never given the chance other than the migraine year. Cat played on two bum ankles the whole season and still averaged 22 points a game.

    Edit: wrong thread.

These geniuses care more about the perception of the player and individual numbers than how good the player actually is.

Need to learn more about basketball imo.

All-star caliber does not equal all-star. Nobody wants to build around Kevin Martin.

No, tell me a coach that will come out and say, "hey guys, we need to double Lowry and take the freakin' ball out of his hands."

Kyle Lowry is a very good ball player/starter in this league. But it's ridiculously absurd to think he's an all-star.

Kyle Lowry had ONE MONTH of averages 19.8ppg, 5rpg, 8.1apg on 48%fg. Then in April, he fell back to 14ppg, 4rpg, 7apg on 33%fg (albeit 5 games).

If it's SO EASY to become a star in just a month of great play, then a lot of guys are stars. Stars are called stars b/c they do it year in and year out, vs every and any type of defense as teams gear up more and more for that player.

It's not perception. It's called production, and CONSISTENT production. Not a month, not a half of a season.

You do know there were talks of Brooks about this last year too right? Look what happened to him this year.

If Lowry wants to be a star, he has to do what he did in March ALL YEAR, and do it for SEVERAL YEARS.

Whether they wanted to or didn't is just perception. The fact is nobody COULD build around Francis, lmao.

Francis was good enough to be the headliner in a trade for a top 2-3 player at the time. He was a legit all-star. We did try to build around him, and we did make the playoffs with him as THE BEST player on our team. That usually defines a franchise player: leading your team to the playoffs.

So no, it wasn't perception. Stevie was an all-star; he was that good.

Fans may perceive (or should I say dislike) his style of play differently, but he produced, and produced at an all-star level.

Kevin Martin, throughout his career, has never been an all-star. Nor any team he was on pegged him to be their best player and build around him, even us. And he has zero potential to be that guy in the future.

There is a reason Rocket fans clamor for a star. We got none.

KMart has produced as much as Steve (looking at peak years) and the Kings tried to build around him.

I don't think KMart was every a rebounder nor a playmaker. Steve had more responsibilities than Kmart ever did, and ever will.

And I don't think they did try to build around KMart. He was just their best player at the time after the downfall of their great years by default, and they just continued sucking and hope for the lottery balls.

Look, I wasn't a huge fan of Francis when he was here but I did appreciate what he did for us. But for some people to turn back the clock and diss this guy and claim Lowry is better on just one month of play is ridiculously stupid.

    wow, Harold Minor.

I'm guessing you didn't consider Steve Francis a star. Look I get how you feel about him, but he was a star and exciting player.

No, I think he was a star who never fulfilled his potential.

You know else has been good enough to be the headliner for a superstar player? Horry, Felton, Favors.

Oh and maybe teams should have doubled Lowry more or played him differently in some way, it might have kept us from having the best offense we've had in decades.

Francis and Kevin Martin are not that far apart. The only difference was Steve yelled and dunked on people and got fired up. Pretty much the difference in their level of play. Obviously they are different players but both played zero defense and Kevin Martin is the better scorer.

Steve led our team in PPG/RPG and APG... How do you like that stat watchers?

Francis was a star because he could close games, unlike our friend and stud Kevin Martin...

No. Stephanie unnecessarily took on more responsibility than K-Mart. Plus, Lowry has always been a better team player than Franci-pants.

False, and I will point you to the nearest Rockets roster of scrubs that Steve got to play with.

(Anyone else yell at Steve for NOT shooting enough? The dude would pass all game long until the 4th quarter, and then drop 20) Soooooooo frusturating...

This. Lowry was a career backup until last year.
