Sony is getting everyone to take it down. watch now! http://www.bigshinyrobot.com/reviews/archives/30331
UPDATE:
Not impressed at all. Why on earth are they gonna do an origin story again?! Why not go The Incredible Hulk route and make it a reboot/sequel of sorts, get the origin story out of the way in the opening credits. Then you have an empty slate with which to work. Plus it looks they're trying to keep it the same style as Raimi's films if not even darker. Would have liked to see a completely different take, like Ang Lee's Hulk to Norton's Hulk. This seems more of the same. The FPS sequence. I dunno, it looks like Doom. Just doesn't come off all together well imo.
I know they are just trying to ride the spider-man gravy train a little longer but I think that ship has sailed. It hasn't even been a decade since the last one and they are pushing a similar version out? I expect most people won't want to go see it; except fanboys of course.
Doesn't make sense one bit to see another version of this movie. It's the same damn thing that was done only a few years back.
didnt spidey 2 basically have the entire first movie done in its opening credits? agree dont need the whole radioactive spider biting again and with uncle ben and all. i probably will see this because i am a fan of spiderman but disappointed that they are re-doing the origin story it will kill a lot of the movie time. the first two spidermans were really good..the third was atrocious they could have done a good 're-boot' and done the whole spiderman/venom dynamic a lot better and darker
I agree. If we're going to be rebooting franchises that aren't even a decade old, we really don't need the origin story to be told again. I have no interest in seeing this movie because I feel like I've seen it before, at least half of it.
Sounds familiar. Been awhile since I've watched it. And the villains gonna be Proto Goblin...so another Goblin story and another origin story. Could this movie be any less original?
This sort of thing is going to keep happening as long as the movie companies can keep cashing in on it - and that's probably going to continue because every year new kids are born. Most of the genuinely creative people working with movies today have left Hollywood and avoided the producer/corporation system of generating profits. With such a dearth in the talent pool, giant studio systems are going to keep doing reboots and remakes and nostalgia-product tie-ins because they don't require much creativity.
i agree with the idea of another origin movie. I mean, do an origin story if the original movie sucked but between 1) the movie is 10 years old and 2) the first spiderman was pretty good. Just pick it up with action rather than retelling the same story.
It's like the whole spider mutation itself will take an hour to tell. While in the cartoon, you can sum it up with this:
I like it. It's dark and this portraying of Peter is a better job than Raimi forgettable Spiderman. Not really sold on Andrew "giraffe" Garfield.
Good scores on IMDB and metacritic and fresh ratings on rottentomatoes would say otherwise. I actually liked both Hulks. Ang Lee's version might have been trying too hard to be dramatic, but it worked imo, mutated doggies and all. Sam Elliott and Nick Nolte were awesome. Bana may have been a bit one dimensional, but was still ok, and Jennifer Connelly was excellent as always. But I might prefer Incredible Hulk a little more. Had more action and a faster pace to it. Loved Liv Tyler and Tim Roth.
