Running from the cops and shooting at the cops is illegal. That is criminal activity.

What Xsatyr said, that I was referring to as funny, was
He breaks it into a formulaic analogy which, with only two facts, paints a broader picture. Law loves to use to these type of analogous illustrations to demonstrate principles, and indeed they can be useful, but you must consider the circumstance beyond the limited known, and especially beyond the fallaciously assumed. Xsatyr's analogy is incomplete as it assumes a litany of premises about the person other than him running and holding a gun. I can think of several alternative facts, albeit in unusual situations which, superadded to these facts, would not make this man a criminal, as I'm sure can you, too. That is why you are innocent until proven guilty, and get your day in court before you are assumed a criminal. That is why, unless this poor young man aimed or shot at these officers, this scene is bafflingly disgusting.

Presumption of innocence, then proven guilt. Did I get the order on that right? You seem to see it the other way around, might you be you a cop?

If a cop tries to detain someone and they take off running then that is evading detention. Obviously you can't legally call this person a criminal unless they are charged for it. If this person pulls out a gun then the cops will react and there will be consequences. You will not get your day in court by pulling out a gun. My statement was refering to this situation from what we already know. There might be an anomaly where one might run from a cop and pull a gun with a perfectly good reason. But pointing a gun at a cop...

If you run from the police. And pull a gun on them and fire a shot. Then be prepared to lose your life. Doesnt matter what happened before, He pulled a gun and fired at police.

    Nice job SFPD!

No, we don't know where this thread would be going. We know everything we knew before - there is not a giant anti-cop conspiracy. When cops do something disgusting and sleazy, that thing needs to be brought up. When cops consistently abuse their power that needs to be discussed.

When cops do their job people don't get upset. It's when they abuse their power that people get upset, and for good reason. You can simplify it all you want, but imagining there's a whole room of people just waiting to show their cop hate for no reason at all is just that ... imagination.

    P.S. you're not a cop.

The cops did their job so tell me how cops abused their power in this situation? Yes, cops abuse their power but people want to find a reason to hate the cops as well. The original title of this thread was "SFPD Ruthlessly Shoots and Kills Unarmed 19yr old Man over $2 Bus Fair". That's at least one person that has attempted to skew this story into something that is untrue and paint police officers in a bad light.

The crowd at the scene didn't know the facts and were acting unruly at the crime scene yelling "**** Ya'll" and "Your career is over" to the officers...WITHOUT KNOWING THE FACTS. So yes...there are rooms and even crowds of people that want to go against the cops.

Also, I merely pointed out the fact that the officer was black because that was specifically pointed out in the article as well.

P.S. Are you a cop? Do you know what they go through in situations like this when they are shot at and are subsequently accused of murdering an unarmed man? Bottom line is you shoot at a cop, you die PERIOD.

OT about cops: Cops are pigs, js. We could do without them. Especially traffic cops... worthless scumbags out there to get your money. State Troopers.... burn in hell. They do no service anyone except for themselves. Fat donut-loving pigs. [/rant]

If you are running from a cop you deserve to get shot armed or not armed.

Depends, was he a Shane Battier or Will Smith type of black? Or was he a Ron Artest or Ice Cube type of black?
