The game being shorter doesn't have much to do with how exciting or entertaining it is, does it? I don't think I've ever watched tennis and said to myself "gee, if only they hit the ball as hard as the men, I'd be entertained". Tennis is, just like I said before, a game of finesse and skill. So I don't see a huge dropoff/difference between the sexes.
in the quarterfinals in Copa America the 4 underdog teams won Peru def Colombia Uruguay def Argentina (Uruguay had 10 men since first half) Paraguay def Brazil (Brazil missed 4 penalty kicks LOl) Venezuela def Chile (This is the farthest Venezuela has gone in this competetion
I guess that's just you. To me, I can see the significant difference between the women's and men's tennis game. The game being shorter does make a difference. You don't have epic matches like Roddick vs. Federer in the 2009 Wimbledon final or Isner vs. Mahut at the 2010 Wimbledon, let alone all the Federer vs. Nadal finals that always go 5 sets and last 5+ hours. The excitement and pressure in that kind of grinding match is definitely missing from the women's game. You should watch some Berdych or Del Potro, the taller guys in the top 10 that slam the ball with a flatter stroke that you can hear the smack. Those guys hit 100+ mph GROUND strokes that are definitely a beauty to watch. Again, women's game lacks any kind of power. All you get are the Williams sisters and Sharapova screeching like harpies. Skill is also another thing that the men have greater advantage of, mainly because the competition they have requires them to adapt more. The speed of the ball and the player's feet, the power they can generate on the run, the angles they create, all these nuances of the game that are resultant from men having a greater physical advantage is significant over the women's game, and that's true of any sport. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy women's tennis when it's on. But I don't enjoy any women's sport as much as the men's. Except for beach volleyball.
Besides using her head Wambach looked pretty useless out there. ESPN 3 will have it online, just fastforward to the kicks
Great pics. The one above looks like what would happen if someone merged Emmanuelle Chriqui with Vanessa Hudgens and added some fake boobs. Great stuff.
Hell yeah. That chick has some Vanessa in her other than the breast size. Glad you weren't the only one to notice.
I watch every ATP/WTA Tennis Tournament and think both are very attractive. Like you said, the finesse and skill make up for the women not having the same power/speed. The dropoff ain't as big as in other sports imo, it's still very enjoyable. There are also plenty big characters in Women's Tennis which make good matchups.
She had no help going forward. When they'd play the ball in to her, the mids weren't moving. They just stood and watched as if she was to take on the entire Japanese defense on her own.
one of the greatest and most exciting soccer matches i've seen in awhile despite the outcome. Props to japan and happy they their country finally has some good news to celebrate. I think Hope Solo and Wambach had the most to lose in terms of money though. Wheaties and all these other endorsement deals were probably already lined up after the Brazil game. But no one remembers the 2nd place team Oh and Morgan definitely is pretty attractive..
Now I gotta wait 4 more years to fap Women Soccer??? What other women sports that are as titillating as Women's World Cup Final???
Women's Tennis is pretty good, I watch all WTA tournaments. Good level of competition and some really nice girls.
Man I woke up this morning still thinking about it. **** me for getting so invested. PS - If anyone knows if Alex Morgan needs to be consoled... send her my way.
Saddest part is we have to wait 4 years now, pretty much no one will get to see Morgan, Hope, Mitts, etc. for a long time.
depending on the competition, storylines, players, etc sometimes womens tennis can be more interesting than mens tennis.
