Lord of the rings movies were awesome and those are hard to top but the Harry potter storyline blows away star wars if u actually read the books

I never read. In fact the last book I read was Book 7, and that was when it first came out. I sped through all the whole set no problem. Very easy to read, and gets you hooked fairly quickly.

Saw it for a second time today and I definitely enjoyed it better. I still wish they showed more of the characters in the epilogue, but that's ok. Perfect send off really. And I stand by what I said...Deathly Hallows I and II is one of the best fantasy films of all time. And the series as a whole deserves it's place in cinema history.

Potter sets new weekend record with $168+ mill weekend beating TDK. I still think TDKR crosses $200 mill weekend next year.

Early projections had Deathly Hallows reaching 200 million, but it had a steep decline Friday to Saturday, presumably cause everyone watched it at the midnight screenings and on Friday. I have a feeling Dark Knight Rises will be the same.

As long as Twilight doesn't reclaim some of these records I'll be happy.

Let's not forget Potters numbers are padded because of 3D.

TDKR might have a hard time breaking it's own record. The death of Heath Ledger and his subsequent performance played a great deal in helping TDK gross a ton.

Just saw it with the boys. Some things confused me.
References to things I don't remember happening in the other movies.

Overall . .it was a solid picture 8/10

It was OK. Great movie, technically, but I couldn't get into the story. I stopped reading the book in Goblet. The writing got equally awkward as the characters became teens. It just didn't feel like the Harry Potter I liked in fifth grade. Seeing Deathly Hallows now after seeing Sorceror's Stone, it's just so dark in tone.

I'm gonna miss checking up Emma Watson and Bonnie Wright getting tatas, though.

Watched the movie last Friday. I watched every episode yet am too lazy to catch up with the books, what a shame.

    I got two questions though

    1. In the movie, the Sword of Gryffindor was taken by that Goblin (??) (one of the creatures that works in the Bank) and disappeared after it was killed by Voldemort. It appears again at the end of the movie where Neville used it to kill the snake. What's the story behind?

    2. Was Harry killed by Voldemort then resurrected due to the resurrection stone? It seems that he dropped the stone on purpose on this way to meet Voldemort. So one does not need the stone in hand for resurrection?

    Thanks in advance.

Just saw it too. I have quite a few questions myself since I didn't read the book.

What was the story behind Harry's resurrection?? Everything seemed so rushed and I didn't even read any of the books

Also what was the Snape story? So suddenly in the end they told us that Snape is the one adult character with the best intentions? While everyone else was serving their own interests? And the movie made it seem like Harry's dad is a POS douche who stole Lilly from Snape. He also sucks in magic. Truth in this?

OK one more, what is up with Draco and his family? I thought his dad was a BAD GUY and took part in the deaths of countless good wizards/witches. Then suddenly once Voldemort is dead, nobody cares about them and they're just forgiven? The ending that showed Draco sending his son to Hogwart was weird too. Isn't he a bad guy? Why didn't Harry or any of the survivors kill them off?

My attempt at answering your spoilers below...

The books filled in the backstory on the whole Snape thing and there was too much of it to address in the movie. Harry's dad was sort of an egotistical jerk when at Hogwarts as described in the books, but was also good at magic. Of course girls always go for the "bad boy".

The same reason they never killed off the death eaters after the first time... I guess they figured the bad guys only followed Voldemort out of fear.

    1. The sword of Gryffindor can be pulled from the Sorting Hat by any worthy Gryffindor when in need. That goes back to the Chamber of Secrets when it is first revealed.

    2. Dumbledore explains it is because Harry gave himself willingly, and the curse ended up killing the Horocrux inside Harry, rather than killing him. The scene at the train station was far longer and more detailed in the book.

Read my post above concerning why he didn't die.

James Potter was a jerk in school. James, Sirius, & Lupin used to make fun of and do mean things to Snape. Lilly stood up for Snape, since they were close friends, but Snape was essentially in the friends zone and Lilly ended up with James (who you can assume grew up). Snape had a dislike for Harry, since he looked like his father, but cared about his well being because he knew how much Lilly loved him. Snape still did terrible things, and had Voldemort never went after Lilly, he may have been loyal to him always.

Mr. Malfoy had grown out of favor with Voldemort, and had become something of an embarrassment. Draco wasn't inherently evil, just brought up by an a-hole dad. Draco's mother cared about Draco above all else, and that is why they walk away before the final battle. Voldemort had put her son in a position to die a couple of times.

I also saw it that Voldemort used the elder wand to kill Harry but he wasn't the true owner of the elder wand, Harry was. So he couldn't kill hiim with it.
