In a game of one on one - What would the final score be?

    Chuck - 1
    Chuck - 0

Seriously. They were both overacheiving hustlers
Chuckie Brown had a better jumper which IMO would be the deciding factor
To make is fair .. no HACK A CHUCK is allowed

    11 point game
    Chuckie Brown - 21
    Chuck Hayes - 19
[Win by 2 rules] [Game lasts several hours]

I'd easily vote for Chuck Hayes, because every time Charlie Brown would get close to the ball, Lucy would pull the ball it away. ba dum chhhhhh. But seriously, Chuckie Brown.

Chucky Brown scored a lot of points in the CBA, didn't he? I remember something like that.

I don't think Chuck Hayes would be a particularly good scorer in any professional league.

LOL - What you talking bout Willis?

Hasn't hit his peak? What exactly do you think Mr. 8 points and 8 boards will peak out at?

Yeah it's not a fair comparison since Chuck has improved vastly every year, not peaked yet. Only a moron would think that someone who's improved every year would have hit his peak already.

of course, only an idiot would say he's vastly improved every year. his PER went down his 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons. His per 36 minutes stats are across the board as to whether he's improved or gotten worse, depending on the category. As are any number of other stats.

    A few things are clear.

    - Chuck had the best individual year of his career last year. Highs in minutes, points, rebounds, assists, steals... and, at or near highs in all those categories on a per 36 minute basis.

    - Chuck's worst year, statistically, minutes played, etc. is 08-09. This also happens to be the Rockets, as a team, best year in over a decade.

I think the OP's characterization of a really tight match between the two is probably accurate. I think Chucky Brown might take it because he was more offensively polished - though I imagine Hayes is a better offensively player when not in th eprofessional setting. On an nba team, though, it's a wash. Hayes is probably the better role player, though interestingly Brown seemed to flourish individually when on a great team like the championship Rockets and do worse when on worse teams, but Hayes seems to do better, individually, when on a mediocre team, and get marginalized, individually, on a better team.

I don't judge a guy's improvement on random box score stats that show Danny Granger to be a better player than Kevin Garnett or Carl Landry to be a better player than Paul Pierce.

I instead actually look at individual skills in year X and then compare them to those same skills in year X+1, like all good talent evaluators.

In what world does a game of one on one include free throws???

also chuck's freethrows are quite decent now @ 66% :)

chuck hayes is probably the better player, but brown actually had decent athleticism from what i remember and probably would win a game of one on one

Chuck Hayes would play great defense, and they'ed both rebound well. Hayes wouldn't put up many points either though.

My vote goes to Chucky Brown, though on the basis of he had a descent shot.
