    A version of this:

Don't call an offensive foul when you get taken to school in the post.

    when playing coed pickup basketball:

I have yet to get called a foul on by a guy when playing pickup. Girls can foul girls, but girls don't foul guys.

    2. don't brag about blocking a girl's shot.

Don't purposely call a foul just cause your shot missed and your nearest defender didn't even touch you (he goes for the shot, ball rolls off rim after bouncing around, "foul"). I hate guys who do that.

Don't be the guy who makes the list of things you should not do. Just play...

    1. Don't try to steal all game long when somebody is dribbling in front of you.
Seriously, I met this clown who was like one of those video game ballers which press the steal-button every two seconds, it's god damn stupid and annoying. He even wore a headband and unmatching shorts and shirt, felt like I was in a real life 2k crew game. If you do it when the other guy is dribblnig wack and not securin the ball well, okay. But he did it the whole effin time and had that mad look in his eyes.

    2. If you walk up your own half, your ballhandles are wack and get heavily defended, just pass the ball to your teammates. Had this clown who unfortunately was one of the co-trainers in my ball-club. He felt like he was GOAT but had absolutely no skills, yet he always wanted to walk up the court while me and another dude(both of us good handles) just shook our heads. One time he was heavily guarded and wanted to showcase, was really pathetic and he got picked getting lost in his own spin-move. He then blushed and yelled at us for not setting a pick for him. Boy never understood he was wack and should be silent and let us do these things. Again, he was a dude wearing a headband and unmatching clothes. These guys always seem to suck big time.

    3. Don't shoot the three every time you get the ball at the 3pt line. See so many bad shooters that pick&pop like it's the only thing they can do, absoulutely kills the flow of the team and barely leads to a basket if you ain't a good shooter.

    4. Some mentioned it, don't charge in a pickup game.

    5. Don't use a zone if your defenders are mediocre. I witness that too often, peepz can't guard 1on1 so they decide to play a zone. A few passes and it gets totally burned, showing all the weaknesses of the individual defenders.

    6. Don't camp if you're off the ball, all five players should be moving and setting offball picks, run through screens and create a fluid motion. Few things are as annoying as this, uninspired teammates camping at their spot and passing the ball to eachother. Good defenders can anticipate the passes and pick the lanes for an easy steal.

    7. Don't rush layups/shots when the paint is filled and teammates are open for an easy jumpshot/layup. You always have to keep an eye on the other guys and decide who has the best opportunity for a basket. Watch how they are moving and feed them for easy jumpers and points in the paint when the defenders are sloppy.

    - Leave the "Chip Douglas" type guys alone, when looking for people to get up a game with.

    - Please don't run into the stands trying to fight a fan, after they've berated you for an entire game or threw a cup of ice at you. The best thing you can do is let security handle it, have them removed from the game, barred from having seats, and even spending a night in county. Letting them reflect on their miserable, pitiful lives in a drunken state.

    - Please don't ask a player for an autograph when they are having a very private moment with someone or look like they are disappointed after a game, meeting, or etc. Sometimes, they might come off a bit in a bad mood or completely ignore you. It doesn't mean they are the devil spawned.

    - Cliched, but all is fair in love and war. The game is a business, first and foremost, owners are in it for money, mostly. Players are generally in it for money, but some intensely love the game. Fans want to be entertained and have the same love for the game. Don't take anything personal, even if your favorite player or team leaves town, remember it's a business, sort of like Wal Mart or General Motors.

OK I may have exaggerated a bit. He didn't dunk it every time, but dude was very physical. Think Kobe vs Bow wow.

Oh well, must've been cut from some college team or something.

Blocking a girl's shot in itself is frowned upon.

I did this before a long time ago at the UH rec center. Of course I had to guard her. I went up and blocked her shot and then I apologized to her right after for blocking it. She wasn't mad, but I think she was mad I apologized.

    Pretty funny.

I disagree with this one. This is done at every level from YMCA to the NBA.

IMO, the unwritten rule here is, if someone throws the ball off of you to keep possession, don't get mad.

What about this? A foul is called on a shot and it goes in. Does it count? I say it does but others say the foul call waves it off.

Also, I had this d-bag tip the ball to himself after a missed shot literally 5 or 6 times all the way to where we take it back so I called travel. He argued with me saying he never had possession of the ball so I p̶u̶n̶c̶h̶e̶d̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶n̶u̶t̶s̶ told him to shoot for it. Was that a travel?

theres no such thing as an offensive foul in pickup ball. Also, you can't 'draw contact' in pickup ball, so stop trying to jump into guys when you are shooting. It's dumb and only makes the shot harder for you.

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet- if you're playing full court, do NOT cherry pick (stand on the far end of the court next to your basket and wait for a teammate to throw a long pass to you for an open layup). It's cheap and it makes y'all look weak.

    in pickup games:

    • you can only call fouls on yourself, not your opponent (honor code)
    • no flopping. there is no such thing as charges and blocking fouls anyhow.

oh, and if you're a fan at an NBA game, do not piss off Mad Max, Ron Artest or
run all up into Jermaine O'Neil's face while he's in a fight.
