    re the worst part...

there's a good reason for that. it's worst cuz you have no idea.

it is not my intention to put details here. i just want to let ya'll know that there's another way to cure any illness effectively including cancer. if you think this makes sense, there's google to get more info. if you don't think i make sense, this is a free country....

Through my wife's job we are able to have a lot of interaction with people highly placed at the ACS. They are passionate about curing cancer and pour tons of money into researching every promising lead.

If there was even a modicum of scientific evidence that led them to believe an alternative treatment was worth pursuing, they would invest time and money into researching it.

I can say absolutely that the people at the ACS are not a joke and actually take offense at your "headline" since I personally know people working for them that pour the lives into curing cancer in any way possible.

"Alternative" scams such as this merely direct attention/money/resources away from actual, valid scientific inquiries that will eventually lead to better results. The advances and future practical applications of stem cell research, nanotechnology, advanced precision radiology, gene therapy, and yes, even chemotherapy are all better uses of our time, resources, and scientific brain power to develop future treatments for cancer. The advances in cancer treatment even in the last 10 years are radical and amazing, and the folks I personally know at the ACS fully believe that most cancer will be curable in most of our life times.

Crap, I was going to say that.

Put me down on the side of science and logical reasoning. As pointed out numerous time, some simple tests of this method didn't seem to show any positive results for treating cancer. And perhaps even worse, it seems to have some nasty negatives associated with it. At least make it a "no harm" situation. And I don't see why this is something "special" that science or research can't explain (we can figure out how old the universe is, how to grow body parts in lab, sequence our DNA, etc., but somehow these are the exceptions to the rules?).

Kind of like the "big pharma" accusations, as if practicitioners of alternative medicine aren't in it only for the money. Think I saw something like ~$35B is spent on these types of treatments annually (just by Americans). That's a lot of money for treatments that don't have to work...or even be safe (notice how actual medicine has to undergo rigorous testing to prove both effectiveness and safety?). Not to say there aren't some problems with "big pharma" (there are plenty), but I wouldn't be defending alternative medicine in comparison.

Oh please do. I watched the "documentary" a while ago and I couldn't stop laughing. I would love to hear it from a believer that i can actually interact with.

the same offense i take from the ACS website on Alternative Meds. no doubt most workers at the ACS have good intentions but hey, people need jobs.

well if they find a cure, that's good. but i'm sure it will end up in the hands of corporations that will monetize it to keep the economy moving so to speak. that's how the world works.

once again, my purpose is nothing more but to give awareness to people here. awarenes thatthere's an option to chemo.

    au revoir!

lol yeah, because nothing says "open minded" like criticizing the ACS for rejecting pseudoscience.

Alternative medicine isn't "open minded", it's "close minded" to any sort of methodical investigation and inquiry.

i had a landlord (not landry) that was an alternative medicine provider, and he didnt even take chemistry or organic chemistry.

how can you know about functions of the body when you cant understand the interactions between organic molecules?

In recent decades reports have confirmed the efficacy of various sham treatments in nearly all areas of medicine. Placebos have helped alleviate pain, depression, anxiety, Parkinson’s disease, inflammatory disorders and even cancer.

Placebo effects can arise not only from a conscious belief in a drug but also from subconscious associations between recovery and the experience of being treated—from the pinch of a shot to a doctor’s white coat. Such subliminal conditioning can control bodily processes of which we are unaware, such as immune responses and the release of hormones.

Researchers have decoded some of the biology of placebo responses, demonstrating that they stem from active processes in the brain.

So basically you're not going to explain how this works, you're not going to offer any evidence that it works other than your cousin's word and your own anecdotal evidence. You are going to place the obligation on finding out more on other people but you say you are raising awareness?

Bull$h!t. If that was your intent, you would have titled the thread "Alternatives to chemo" or "Cancer and alternative medicine". Your real intention was to post an inflammatory thread touting pseudo-scientific claptrap you and your unseen cousin claim to have used to magically heal people (all while providing no scientific evidence and few details) while denigrating an organization who has toiled longer than you have been alive on this planet to fight the insipid disease that has claimed many family members of posters on this board, including my mother, my grandmother and my grandfather.
