Anyone else notice for the last couple months or so that Amazon.com is taking forever to ship orders that are shipped with their free shipping option? I use to almost always receive orders with free shipping in 2 to 4 days, now it takes well over a week for my orders to arrive. I just looked at some of my recent orders and the tracking shows the items only in transit for the same amount of time as before, so it seems that amazon.com is sitting on their orders with free shipping for a couple days before sending them out. I'm pretty sure it only applies to free shipping. I just ordered a wallet that didn't qualify for free shipping and it was processed, packed up and shipped out the next day, while my bike pump with free shipping ordered last week is still listed as "shipping soon", which means I cant cancel it. I think theyre trying to push more of their customers to pay for shipping or to sign up with their Prime service. Free quick shipping on almost all orders was one of the biggest reasons why I primarily did most of my online shopping through amazon. Now, they're just like any other online retailer. I know its probably not a big deal to people, but I didn't expect such shady practices from a reputable company.
I've ordered a few things over the past couple of months and they still arrive 2-4 business days after they say it is shipped (which has been either the same day or next).
The Free service takes longer than the standard ground. Don't really see the problem. They give you the option(s) to pay for faster shipping and they list how long it will take to receive your order. I've just started routinely using Amazon for some purchases. Did they have free standard shipping before the super saver? Personally I don't mind waiting a couple more days if I get no tax and free shipping. Wait till they start taxing all our online purchase then you'll really be steamed.
Prime is awesome and well worth the $79/year for the service. Always get my packages in 2 business days.
I used to always use the free shipping. It would take some time in some cases, but didn't really bother me (I didn't really care when I got them, as long as I got them...and it was free). Pretty sure a week or so happened a couple of times. I've been using Prime for a while though. I order lots of stuff from Amazon these days, and thought it would be worth it. Plus some of the other benefits of using Prime (e.g., video streaming). It has paid off the few times I've needed a package in a couple of days.
Their free shipping has always been listed as taking longer then other options, I think they say 5-7 business days for their free shipping, but in reality it usually only took 2-4 days to receive almost ALL my orders with free shipping. Its been like that for years, but now its changed all of a sudden. I guess I'm pissed because I expected my order to be here, but it won't be for another week or so and I can't cancel it, even though it hasn't shipped yet.
If you or someone you know has a .EDU email address you can sign up for free amazon prime for a year. I think all they do is send you a confirmation email and you click the link and then you have free 2 day shipping on all amazon items and the choice to upgrade to over night shipping for $3.99. http://www.amazon.com/gp/student/signup/info
"I'm mad that they state 5-7 business days and it's taking exactly that long to get here!!!" Is that what this is? lulz Be happy that a large portion of the time you get it much much sooner.
Second that; cough up the 80 bucks. Everything two-day, plus the rare, in-a-hurry overnight delivery for $3.99/package. Now the streaming competition to Netflix is thrown into the deal.
Sorry OP, but like someone else said, it pretty much always gets to you In the time it says it will, and IT'S FREE! I ordered a kayak from amazon, it weighs 53 lbs. I got it shipped to me, for free, in five days. Other places wanted at least 100 bucks for shipping. Amazon was cheaper than local stores even, and I didn't have to take it home from the store. Yeah, there's nothing to complain about. I think I'm getting old, because I notice people nowadays just complain a ton...
I agree. I think it depends on where they're shipping it from. I've gotten stuff within 3 days and other times nearly 2 weeks using their free shipping. I've been a Prime customer of theirs now for a year or so, and with all the stuff I buy on Amazon, I wouldn't go back.
Yeah, but its kinda like when restaurants first open and serve high quality food with big portions. After they get their customer base, they start skimping. I always expect fast free shipping, because its what I've always gotten. Now its free slow shipping. Its not slow shipping that bothering me either, its that they're sitting on orders to make the shipping times longer. Orders with free shipping will be listed as "shipping soon" for several days, instead of just a day or two. Seems like a strategy for getting more people to sign up for prime to me. I guess most people won't notice longer shipping times with free shipping, but I order a lot of stuff from amazon, almost always with free shipping. Its a good deal, but I never really needed, since their free shipping was fast enough for me. Most of my items came out of their Phoenix distribution center (i live in san diego), so it was pretty much 2 day shipping on most orders. I'll probably get amazon prime, but I won't like that amazon succeeded in forcing my hand through this shady business practice.
thats what I am thinking and laughing before I had prime I always received my items before the estimated 5-7 business days (not including weekends and holidays here) I think amazon's shipping policies are the best out of any online business there is. The 2 day prime shipping really cant be beat and sometimes I receive my orders the very next day. other sites charge a ridiculous amount to ship sometimes - sometimes over the cost of the actual item - and it takes 7-10 business days to arrive. I am sorry if i am paying for shipping I expect something to be there in less than 5 regular days unless its coming from overseas. And the key word still in all of this is FREE if you are upset about how long it takes Amazon would be more than happy to ship it to you faster if you are willing to pay for it.
I'll "third" Amazon Prime. What I've found is that I actually do MORE shopping on Amazon in order to take advantage of the "free" shipping and no tax. So stuff I would normally have gone to the store for, I now look for on Amazon. Because they sell everything you can pretty much find whatever you want. You also don't feel bad about ordering one thing at a time because the shipping is already accounted for.
I've always seen that offer for Prime but figured I didn't use it enough to make it worth it. But lately, I've been shopping at Amazon more and more. Maybe it's time to give it a try. Does the 2-day shipping still apply if it's being shipped directly from a 3rd party company?
I've had Prime for the last year and over the last few months my packages are coming the NEXT FREAKING DAY in the mail. it is incredible. i place an order from work on Wednesday afternoon and I get home Thursday evening after work and the package is waiting at my front door. prime is well worth the cost if you shop at amazon for virtually everything, like me.
