I would be happy if they signed Chuck for his leadership and presence but playing Chuck around 30 minutes ensures that we will finish around 9th again. And the rebuild gets delayed again.
I can see this too, as I could see also moving Scola, anything at this point is on the table as far as I am concerned. If Scola has to be moved (my favorite Rocket BTW), then fine, clear him out too. Anything that gets this team closer to being an actual contender and not a borderline playoff team is fine by me. Anyone could be moved to free up playing time for younger guys, that is the nature of a rebuilding team. DD
Sure they have. Younger guy had potential behind him at one position and they traded the older guy for a guy at another position.
That being said if we traded Scola? I would like to keep Hayes to go next to Patterson to keep a real solid defense in the lineup. It makes sense. If you are gonna trade Scola this season? Then Morey might have to hold on to Hayes for a fall back option stand point.
The younger guys deserve no playing time that they don't earn. That is the way of the McHale Who I Old School. Back in the Days of the McHale Who is Old School, younger guys did't get no playing time they did't beat out veterans for. Younger guys didn't even get to eat any food unless they pried it from the veterans' hands; nor were they permitted to wear any uniform unless they killed a veteran and stripped it off his corpse. This was the way of the McHale who is Old School, the Way of Honor. It is known.
"The future is now argument" makes sense for getting rid of scorers with heavy contracts, but not necessarily bench leaders with potentially very agreeable contracts. If it comes to that I'll get a little disgruntled; as a fan I want to see at least one old fan-favorite remain with the team... not just a bunch of players being shuffled like a card deck.
In reality, Chuck Hayes would almost get no time if he went to a real contender like the Celtics or the Lakers. Just look at Von Wafer. He was playing as our 6th man in Houston, and once he got to the Celtics, he was getting DNP's all over.
Doubt its as much as that. With the new CBA and the demand for 6'6 Centers, I'd say something like Dorell Wright's deal.
Hayes is as good as gone. And the T-Mac/Yao era has officially come to a resounding end. I shed a tear.
at you?? hell no son, fools like you dont even make me frown. by the way, nice job moving the goalposts after you finally realized you were the turkey that cant read.
Here is the way I look at it. 1. Is Chuck Hayes going to be a cornerstone to drawing free agents to Houston. No 2. Is Chuck Hayes going to be a superstar player? No 3. Is Chuck Hayes going to be a star player at a key position? No 4. Is Chuck Hayes a quality starter in the NBA? No 5. Is Chuck Hayes essential to turning this franchise around. No ------------------------------------------------------- No offense to Chuck, but he is simply not needed on a rebuilding team, same with Shane last year, loved Shane, but it was time to move on, same with Chuck....clear the way for playing time for the young guys....will the team be worse in the short term...yep...but it helps the Rockets in the long term...and that is the way this franchise is heading...a longer view... Settle in for the ride people, it may be awhile. DD
and Patterson, Hill, Thabeet, Twill, Budinger, will bring a superstar? those guys are going to make the rockets a contender again? sure, everybody will want to play with them. Ask the same questions with those players, and the answers will be NO.
If a ****ing young guy can't ****ing beat out ****ing Chuck Hayes for ****ing minutes, he isn't ****ing a part of the ****ing future.
