I always thought Robinson was clearly a better regular season player than Ewing in the regular season, but that Ewing seemed to have more heart, and that made him better than Robinson in the playoffs.
I just thought that one Spurs fan discovered a time machine, got back to the past, kidnapped Olajuwon, closed Hakeem in grandpa house for an entire series... But than I realized, that even in this circumstances, Robinson wouldn't be able to dominate Hakeem. After that I noticed that I have no Mary Jane anymore
Robinson's regular season offensive numbers were far more efficient. Still, Olajuwon > Robinson >>>>>>> Ewing
OK, now you're just being ridiculous. For one thing, it wasn't his last "years": It was a year. Singular. And his touches weren't low because of Francis, who played very well that here. They were low because he was on a rapid decline by that stage of his career and could no longer carry an offense like he could have 3-4 years earlier.
Everyone knew Dream coasted in regular season. This is the reason why Pippen never fit in. This is also why I think the Gundy/Thibadeux teams are never as good as their regular season record indicates.
The difference is that Hakeem elevated his game in the playoffs. As good as his numbers were in regular seasons, his playoff numbers were even better. very few players in the history of the game can claim that. David Robinson, OTOH, consistently shrunk in the playoffs. Robinson had the deer in headlight look on his face when it got tough in the playoffs. See Jazz and Rockets series for reference. In terms of skill sets, similar on defense, although Hakeem was quicker which is why he had more steals. Hakeem was also a better man-to-man defender. On offense, Robinson's game was facing to the basket. Hakeem also faced the basket but most of his work was done with his back back to the basket. There was more of a variety to his offense which is why he was harder cover in playoffs. It was much easier to plan a seven game series against Robinson than it was against Olajuwon. Some of it had to do with the skillsets but a lot of it was due to David Robinson being a p***y.
You can't say that Hakeem had better defense. Robinson's defense was better than Hakeem's for the most part. You remember Mr. Robinson's neighborhood? I'm not trying to be a troll here, but saying that hakeem was better than robinson on defense is flat wrong.
actually, it is completely correct. anyone who watched would know that. fortunately, we also have stats.... which also say Hakeem was the better defender.
uhhh...are u guys only looking at the wins vs losses? that has much more to do with the teams rather than the individuals because like the dude above me said, their individual stats are identical....
put your Hakeem threads in the correct forum, which is the Rockets forum. Or are you afraid of being trashed to death...you troll. next
Actually I did, and guess what: David vs. Jordan, Ewing, Oneal and Hakeem. David is even with Jordan, 1 head of Oneal, but he owns Ewing and Hakeem. Hakeem vs Jordan, Ewing, Oneal and Robinson? It is far worse. Hakeem is owned by Oneal and Robinson, but can only manage .500 against Ewing and 1 ahead of Jordan. Anyway you look at it my friend.
you are identifying wins vs losses as the sole factor for 1v1 comparisons in a team game. idiot identified. the individual stats don't lie, robinson and hakeem had identical ones.
