Very interesting. I was actually hoping for that assistant from Memphis to make it a D-League duo. But ah well. I like this move.

    Also signed J.B. Bickerstaff

    SpearsNBAYahoo Marc J. Spears
Wolves assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff has accepted a similar position with the Rockets. Agreed to accept job prior to Kurt Rambis' firing.

    So McHale>Sampson>Finch>Bickerstaff

    Wow, GREAT hire!

All jokes about Sampson and McHale improperly texting and/or offering illegal contracts to players aside, Kelvin Sampson has quickly (in a few short years) emerged as one of the most well-respected and knowledgeable NBA assistant coaches in the league.

The addition of Sampson certainly adds a HUGE degree of legitimacy to the McHale hiring.

    Head Coach:
Kevin McHale - Leader and Motivator

    Assistant Coaches:
Kelvin Sampson - Lead Assistant, Defensive Coordinator(?)
    Chris Finch - Offensive Coordinator
    J.B. Bickerstaff - Practice & Drills Coach(?)

Not too shabby. Would like to maybe see another good "consultant-type" hire, but this staff actually looks pretty nice. Sampson and Bickerstaff were widely sought-after by other teams.

My first thought was, "Hey, this guy has the same name as that guy who cheated at Oklahoma!" I had no idea he's been an assistant in the NBA for a couple of years already.

Now I see Morey working here. Having two experienced cheaters who know and willing to recruit players in underhanded ways must be Morey's new "moneyball" move. And with Morey's business savvy, they won't do anything stupid that will get them caught.

First order of business: Dwight Howard.
Second order of business: Chris Paul.

    :)

    ^^No problem.

Jonathan_Feigen RT @JeromeSolomon: Kelvin Sampson is excellent at getting strong play out of average talents. Rockets have a lot of average talent.

That's an outstanding coaching staff that Houston has put together around Kevin McHale.

Or we can lose all of our draft picks and scholarships due to rule violations.

I am not nearly as keen about Kelvin Sampson as some of you seem to be. Will anyone educate me on Kelvin Sampson and why/how he is heralded as a good hire that makes up a strong coaching staff?
