When I went through political training, the quote was that the average person thinks about politics 5 minutes per week. Those are almost all of your independent voters. They are even more likely to vote straight party (if they vote at all), because they are usually very low information voters.
I don't consider myself independent. I consider myself completely disenfranchised. So should anyone in America.
And like me, you are much more disenfranchised with one party over the other ... to the point where you nearly vote straight ticket.
Yep that's me. When did it become party over country? No one is willing to do what is right anymore. Its all about the sound bite. All the republicans care about is low taxes and governing morality. All the democrats care about is protecting the hand-outs. We spend over 3 billion dollars a year while our tax receipts are only a little 2 billion. We aren't going to fix this problem by raising taxes or cutting spending alone. We have to do both, but no one seems to care because no one wants to make any sacrifices.
Obama and the Democrats have offered to make cuts. The Republicans have absolutely refused to raise any taxes. They are not the same. It's not even close.
Obama has offered to make cuts, but democratic party is pretty pissed about it. I don't mind Obama's policies so much as his lack of leadership. He needs to call out Congress for the turds that they are. Guys that put partisan politics over country.
