She doesn't want to go to a doctor, and I'm not really pushing her because it doesn't look so bad. I just told her to ice it a lot and take pain meds. This is nothing too bad, right? <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103074955151161367382/Downloads?feat=embedwebsite#5628344041082100610"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-BNoEfTr8FLE/ThvlFcpim4I/AAAAAAAAAJA/k2-v4CqzVX0/s144/IMG063.jpg" height="144" width="108" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103074955151161367382/Downloads?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">Downloads</a></td></tr></table>
If she can move her thumb on her own, no broken bones. It doesn't look severe. Ice Ice Baby. PS. You sure that's your mom and not your dad?
That happened to me back in middle school. I didn't go to the doctor, but I did go talk to a local pharmacist about any medications that I should take. I don't recall being prescribed me any medications but was instead referred to get a finger splint. Pretty sure my nail fell off eventually. Bring on the jokes.
Thanks, I thought as much. And she's like AARP old so the hands don't look feminine at that age anymore.
We are not doctors (yet). An internet forum is no substitute for a physician with matters of your mothers health. Go to the doctor.
Kermit the frog jammed his finger once but it wasn't from the car door... His finger was green and slimy and it came from Miss Peggy....
That happened to me a few years ago except with my thumb. I don't think I've ever bled so much in my life. It grew back after a couple months.
This happened to me once. I filed down my nail to the point where the blood is and let all the blood out. It felt much better after that because all the pressure from the blood trying to come out of the nail was gone.
that happens to everyone, pulsing pain for days, nail may or may not dislodge eventually heals without the need of medical attention
There is something about the thought of a fingernail falling off that makes me want to pass out. I've sliced myself, skinned myself, crushed toes, broken bones, etc, but for some reason the thought of a nail coming off just makes me sick. Strange.
I did that in 4th grade. We just put ice on it. The nail turned a rainbow of colors and fell off at the end of the day. They do grow back.
From experience, it is strange. When it starts to raise because of the clotting, and then as your nail begins to lift and come off. I lost my pinky nail from paint balling, got smashed real good when hit directly.
if the blood is in there and growing, goto a doc and they will poke a hole and drain all that blood out. ITs simple and fast and the pain isn't that bad, but you don't want it stuck in there
