i became a fan because of hakeem, but i was never the type of person to say kenny smith or vernon maxwell sucks because they didn't give the ball to hakeem enough. scottie brooks or robert horry were never scapegoats for rockets failures. i never knew anybody liked that either. it's obnoxious.

rockets fired coach of the year don chaney !! theya re stupid they will never win now !!!1

why coach no play chucky brown more minutes ??? coach stupid !!!1

sam cassel is better, get rid of kenny smith !!!!!111

robert horry ?!?!?1 what a stupid draft pick !!!!!1111

i couldn't imagine those types of conversations back then. i would have choked or stabbed somebody.

I became a fan of Basketball because of Hakeem, but that don't make me a bandwagon i was 7 years old no father role model (Meaning I didnt have A Father to teach me about sports) and i seen Hakeem Killing ShaQ in the NBA Finals (THE DREAMSHAKE) was better then flying to me, It was like a Super Power And I Felled In Love...From then on out I Cheered And Cried For My Rockets! That Feeling Rooting For My Team, Well That's Extraordinary

they would have bailed out when the Rockets were down 0-2 to Phoenix and labeled Choke City.

There's no such thing as a "Yao only fan" only a "Tmac only fan" because Yao's interest always aligned with the Rockets. Yao wanted to win, he worked hard, he was a good teammate, he always listened to his coaches, never argued with the front office...

Tmac only fans exist because tmac's interest didn't always align with what was best for Mcgrady. tmac didn't always want to play hard, he didn't always want to listen to coach/management, and he often threw teammates, coaches, front office under the bus

Ever stopped and thought about how the YOF's line of thoughts may not align with Rockets? Yao may not be mad at Steve Francis or T-Mac for not passing to him enough, but guess who does? That's right! YOF's! There is a reason that term came about and why they are so despised.

Easier way of putting it is, Yao cares about the Rockets and is loyal to the Rockets. YOF's couldn't give a **** about Rockets!

I remember someone who posted here back in 2005 or so claiming to be a Rockets fan from China was also found posting on Lakersground.com or some such website talking about "I big fan of Lake! Me hope Yao play with Kobe at Lake!" However, these guys have been pretty rare a few years into Yao's career. I'm pretty sure we haven't heard "Why ____ no pass to Yao" on a regular basis since maybe back in Bobby Sura's days. What we have more of nowadays are people who accuse of others of being "YOF" out of some sense of superiority about being "pure" Rockets fans.

As I posted in another thread... What we have more of nowadays is Lady Cassandras.

Yeah... YOF became kind of an insulting stigma for anyone that showed the slightest support for Yao. To me, a YOF is someone who puts the team that he is supposedly interested in over the interests of the overall team. It is fine to be a fan of only the player, but they should keep that to themselves or GTFO the Rockets forum and find a fan site for that player. There is just nothing productive talking to a poster like that.

Its not going to be normal, when people still call Twill the next NBA Superstar, while calling Kevin Martin a role player.

Im a ROF (Rockets Only Fan)
