    Kwame traded for Gasol.

    Gasol value = Kwame.

 Pau was traded for younger cheaper brother and an expiring contract. The Queens traded Martin for Landry and the Knicks got rid of salary for a 1st rounder. Try to not look like an idiot next time.

Bynum is the favorite to be the starting center in the western conference next year and beyond. Martin is a one trick pony who is a liability half of the game and invisible in its final moments.

You overvalue Bynum like enkaenkaenka overvalues Kobe. Bynum is going to anchor a mediocre (at best) Lakers team before he gets injured again.

LOL you're in for some disappointment, my friend.

Go elsewhere for your Lakers worship.

    Two things I got here:

    1) Kobe, tell me how karma tastes?

    2) The children always end up destroying everything the parents build.

Anyway, to be quite honest its good that the Lakers are starting to realize their end is coming and is deciding to rebuild. However picking Bynum as the "heir apparent" is pretty stupid, even when healthy Bynum's nowhere the premier C's in the L. Should have traded Bynum or Gasol and picked Kanter/Jonas V instead if they wanted to rebuild.

I think you need to assess the Lakers' real talent. And why would Daryl trade to get Bynum (as if the Rox need another injury-plagued center)? Landry, although undersized, was very consistent in his production, something that Bynum isn't.

 Nobody could have predicted Marc Gasol would become as good as he was. That's like saying Jeffrey Jordan would become the younger, cheaper Michael Jordan. It was pure luck, no matter how the Grizzlies FO spins it. Just like how they claim they saw the worth in Zach Randolph when the truth is they traded for him just to meet the salary requirements for the NBA.

At least he doesn't have glass knees. You're obviously a Laker fan, good luck with attaching "if healthy" to everyone of your sentences regarding Bynum.

The Lakers already won 2 titles and made a 3rd finals without him being "healthy". Suddenly now the Lakers are done unless he becomes an IronMan? As I said before wishful thinking lol

the lakers are done because Mike Brown is their new coach, Bynum is their new "no. 1" guy and Kobe is a shell of his former self.

but mostly because Mike Brown is their new coach..

Yes. You can't turn back the clock. Neither Kobe, Artest, Pau or Odom will be what they used to be. If Bynum doesn't have a very productive regular season and post-season, stick a fork in the Lakers. Not only that, they must improve their PG play and team speed. Lastly, Mike Brown better turn out to be better than many (like myself) are giving him credit for.

So basically, for the Lakers to win a championship this season, everything has to go right and it still might not be enough.

Yup. Especially if this lockout covers the whole season. That's one more year added to all their ages.

As they stand now, I'm not even sure the Lakers can win 2 out of 7 games with Miami.

Its funny how Mike Brown is a terrible coach for losing with LeBron but LeBron is an amazing player for making the Finals and winning a ton of games in Cleveland considering the talent around him. All blame to Mike Brown all credit to LeBron. Its also amazing that somehow Lebron won fewer games with the best two supporting players in the league and was as unimpactful as ever on the games biggest stage with a new coach. Poor LeBron must just keep getting terrible coaches. lol. What coaches in the NBA have had greater success given the talent of their squads than Mike Brown?

I don't know Bynum is their #1 guy means. Do you really believe he is their #1 guy when he is a new trade rumor every week and has the shortest contract among the Lakers best players?

All league NBA 1st team guard
All league NBA 1st team defense
    4th in MVP voting
Extended rest due to the likely lockout

If thats the shell of his former shelf you must consider him one the most elite players in the history of the game at his physical peak.

Brown is a very good defensive coach, but his whole offense in Cleveland was "give the ball to Lebron and get out of the way." A guy with that kind of holes in his coaching skills probably shouldn't be coaching a team that sees anything short of a championship as failure.

They were just rumors. If the new ownership really is intent on building around Bynum going forward, then they probably weren't remotely credible rumors.

Or we think he didn't deserve the accolades he received last year, particularly the all-defense, which was a complete joke.

Describe a superior offensive plan given the talent on the Cavs  The last two LeBron years the Cavs had the 4th and 6th best offense in the league. Their offensive rating 111.8 was superior to the Heat's offensive rating 111.7 this year despite the fact Mike Brown never had second or third option as capable at creating his own scoring opportunities like Dwayne Wade or Chris Bosh at his disposal. Again, this is your idea of a terrible offensive coach, lol

What makes them less credible than the author of the original post?

Then again that has been the hater mantra for years hasn't it? If he didn't deserve the awards the year before, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that you are not describing a drop off in play. Can you point to anything statistically defensively that supports this opinion?

With the hiring of Messina from Real Madrid, the Lakers will be better than people think under Mike Brown. He will cover his flaws offensively while Mike Brown brings the defense.

Great news! Jim Buss looks like he's an idiot. Jerry giving him the reign means this franchise is going to suck for years after the championship momentum is gone.

BTW, LOL at the few delisional Lakers fans popping up in this thread.

Spoken like a true Lakers fan...thinking everyone's clamoring to take on your overrated garbage.

I'm not even going to try to claim I know who Morey is after but I'd probably prefer dummy busts like Thabeet, Whiteside, Biyombo, and Kwame before I'd take Bynum. The guy is as dumb as a rock (prolly cuz he got drafted right out of high school) and has no honor demonstrated by his cheapshot low blows to Barea, Beasley and one other guy. He is currently my most hated player in the league not to mention he's injury prone.

Your comment assuming Daryl Morey covets a guy like Andrew Bynum was probably the most insulting comment you could ever give to Morey. Unlike the Lakers, Morey takes personality and character into his evaluations. Why the hell would he want Bynum? We need a center but I'd rather have the Chuckwagon at C than root for that bum Bynum.

As for your other comment referring to the Rockets as a team with no future, its ironic that you root for the Lakers, a team that just hired Mike Brown over Rick Adelman, the coach most famous for riding LeBron's coattails into the playoffs every year. Together Jim Buss, Mike Brown, and Andrew Bynum will drive the franchise to shambles now that Jerry handed the keys to his son.

Also, what in the hell are you doing in Clutchfans. Get back to lakersground or topbuzz where you belong you damn bandwagon fan. This forum is for true Rockets fans only.

You do realize that John Kuester, an assistant under Brown during those years, drew up the majority of the offensive schemes for the Cavs, don't you?
