Bad news for CometsWin and like-minded fans:

With Yao gone, Thabeet will be the man, and you will be flooded with Tanzanians.

We just honestly stated that we got onboard when Yao was drafted. What's wrong with that? Everyone has to start somewhere.

Why do "fans" like you, pushes us non-Houstonian / non-American fans, to the back of the bus?

And Sir, your resume' does not give you the right to ask us to get off the bus. It just show how old you are, if anything.

You should read posts before you comment about them. His own thread title says "AS A CHINESE FAN". Huh? Assuming he's Chinese makes me a racist? What? He didn't say he was quitting on the Rockets? Huh? You must have missed this part,"I doubt that I will ever follow the Rockets' games that close any more". It helps if you read the posts you're referencing before you post. Yes, English actually is my 2nd language.

There are tons of non-Houstonians and non-American fans that are Rockets fans. That's not at issue. And really, trying to turn this into a racial issue with the back of the bus comment is incredibly lame.

He doubts that he will follow as closely as before. This is different from saying he will not follow the team at all. In fact, he may still follow the team more than many other casual fans, who will not get the honor of being called a "fake fan" by a fan-dom Nazi.

First off, to call someone a fake fan, you have to define the term. What exactly is a "fake" fan of the Houston Rockets? He liked the Rockets and still likes the Rockets, but just because he likes Yao more, his affection for the team is entirely negated to a point of being disingenuous? Make sense, much?

So... people who loved Hakeem while he was on the Rockets, but followed him less when he got traded are somehow fake Hakeem fans? That sound about right to you?

It was not intended to be a racial undertone. Sorry if it came across like that to you.

I am just pointing out that "fans" like you ( I might be wrong, maybe you are the only one) that discriminates against a certain set of fans, e.g. those who have player favorites among the Rockets, or those who don't have the hate for Dallas/Jazz. You know that context in this board. "Fans" like you tend to look at them as 2nd class fans or worse "Fake" fans. As if those who are fans for 30 years, who know who Granville Waiters is, are the only true fans. What can we do, we just started being follower when Yao got drafted.

The non-Houstonian/non-American bit is for those who can't understand that our (and those like me) affinity is to the Rockets basketball team, not to the city. Am just trying to make it clear that it wasn't racial but I am pointing out that "fans" like you are acting exactly like "the back of the bus" context. DISCRIMINATING against a certain set of fans who does not have the same "fan" qualification as yours.

If not, please explain why you are asking us to get off the bus? (Yep, it was you who first referenced a bus )

Sir, it was you who put racial meaning into this, so who is lame?

The guy just said $200 to the tip Jar, I don't know if he's a "fake" fan but he's a heck of a person. And let's be serious here, with everything that goes on life, sometime you become a little less of a rabid fan for the team if there are less of a connection to the players on that team. He might still cheers for the Rockets more than any other team, is that a fake fan?

As an American fan, I am deeply saddened by Yao Ming's retirement.

    To CometsWin,

What are you going to do if YOF keep staying on the bus? To some extent, you may leave it if you are too fed up.

    Bye bye.

As a Greek-American fan, today is a sad day for me. Its a sad day to be a Rockets fan period. Still, who wouldn't be completely surprised to see Yao unretire if the lockout causes a 50 game season and Yao makes any positive progress. I just can't see him completely swearing off basketball forever. Still young and he's just too damn good.

    I can dream, can't I? siiiiigh

    Reading comprehension problem? LOL.

    Let's revisit your post again.

You said some people pretend they're fans like you. First of all, who have pretended in that way? You said it and I hope you are man enough to back it up. What about quoting a few posts to show that some people did pretend they are fans like you? I am waiting.
