There's probably multiple threads about the topic already. Or this should not even be in the GARM. Yes I know all the rules here after all these years. But I came to Clutchfans directly to click on “Start New Thread”.

As far as I remember, I have started 3 threads ever since signing up right after Yao got drafted. One was commented stupid (newbie mistake). Second one removed due to redundancy (should have known CF is always up to date, and I always get news half day late in China). And I am writing the third one right now. However, I do check into CF all the time, religiously, just for updates on Yao Ming.

During the past nine years, I moved from coast to coast in the US, and finally back home in Beijing. I grew from an overseas student who would play ball 5 times a week, to a business-running, diaper-changing father who dreams of playing ball once a weekend, if there’s no traveling, if my wife doesn’t want to go shopping, if my banged-up knees feel okay, and so forth. But CF has been keeping me close to a basketball life, centered in Yao, in Houston.

I remember the board would crash if Yao played an epic game. I apologize for contributing F5s all night long.

I remember trying to translate articles from Sina to CF, only to realize it was translated from US media.

I remember bragging on Sina about knowing firsthand info about Yao and the Rockets. People don’t ask about “Links” there, because all I had to say was “I read f*** English”.

I remember spending years trying to understand the Jazz hate, and being labeled YoF, which I gladly accepted.

I remember blaming everything on “Yao’s second fiddles”, from ball-hogging SF3, to crying baby TMac, to IronMan skip-to-my-lou, and even Kmart (I know he hasn’t played with Yao, but I blame him too for whatever).

I remember despising everyone who dares to say something negative about Yao. Not posting much doesn’t mean I can’t curse on my compute screen.

So good-bye the good old days. If I have to recommend a team to my kids after they grow up, I tell them to sign up clutchfans. For now, I am a retired YoF. Wish good luck to Houston Rockets.

At least you're honest. I don't see why you're quitting the BBS though. You said yourself that this forum keeps you close to basketball. But it is your choice, so farewell.

Lol at blaming Kevin Martin too.

I think the OP should get his name retired by Clutch.

He'll retire on crutches, as destiny speaks.

You dont have to go, just because Yao retired, you still can blame other players, but if you really think you have nothing to do in CF now then you can go, so see ya later. :)

    haha nice thread.

I suspect a good number of "YOF" are secretly Rockets fans though and will be lurking around this site. There's a reason why Houston is the #1 team in China and why Les is one of the few owners making tens of millions a year profit on his franchise (along with Knicks, Bulls, LA and a few others.

The bit about how much older you are got to me though. Damn, it's already been 9 years...

Good post. I won't bother to read the original post. I read it like he was retiring as a Yao only fan, and now has converted to just a Rockets fan since Yao is retired.

Maybe I am also deluded, but I expect one more return by Yao in about 2 years when he starts to get the itch if he has recovered much more.

That's true. It's half a life for some posters here. 9 years is a long time when you look at how much things have changed since then in our lives. But it seems so fast when it comes to Yao playing basketball with the Rockets.

I am back here to write something as well.It is a special occasion. The end of a chapter. I registered to CF because of Yao, very proud of my membership number as well. ^_^.
I got upset about people discriminating and labelling YOF and whoeverOF so I stopped posting. However, over years, I have been lurking. I finished my training in the U.S and now I am home. It has been 8 years already since I came back from the U.S.
But Houston Rocket is my NBA team and will always be.
I am attached to you guys because of Yao but you cannot get rid of me totally even he is retried.
You are my basketball family/team already.

So I will continue my lurking.
See you again when we got chanmpionship.

I remember I made thread about why the rockets should trade Yao a couple years ago and how YOF disrespected my thought. One thing good that came out of yao's retirement is no more YOF and I am glad. These jackass don't care about the Rockets.

personally never had a problem with chinese fans. i understood the dynamic. when people would complain about their english, i would write, their english is better than my chinese.

i think you guys are a great addition to the site. no way would i be communicating with a bunch of people in china if not for yao. for that i'm extra thankful he is on this team. i find your culture, particularly its long history fascinating, and i would enjoy some of the epic debates on politics with chinese posters and samfisher.
