bill walton isnt stupid, he just acts dumb as part of a schtick. bill walton is a good announcer when hes not announcing laker games, because the guy is a huge laker fan, even before luke went to play for them. thats the only problem i have wiht him.
That is funny. I have noticed that anytime the talk turns to great centers or a taller player makes a particularly nimble play, Walton always references Olajuwon.
I'm glad to hear there are at least a few converters from hating to loving Bill W. I mean, who's more entertaining than Mr. W? Who truly knows more about the game, in commentary, than he is? Who can say all that exaggeration all the time, sometimes contradicting his former exaggerations, yet everything said was still true? Who could be so wise, acts like a clown, knows that ppl would laugh him so much, and still enjoys life and basketball like a kid? He's just speciall in many ways, NBA is lucky he's there to "color" (also make interests) in the commentary game.
Bill Walton contridicts himself at least once during every game he announces. he'll blow smoke up someone's a$$ at the beginning of a game, and if they make one mistake he somehow turns them into the worst player out there...
Walton became good when they quit pairing him with Cropper Jones. Jones is one of the least critical shills for the league ever. Walton at least takes positions that David Stern may not approve of time to time.
Walton loves Yao because Yao reminds him of himself more than any other center since ... Bill Walton. Like Walton, Yao is a big man who fully understands the game, he plays the game because he loves it and he is an excellent passer with solid fundamentals. The same things (except the big man part) can be said of Luke Walton.
Welll, I guess Yao's 7'5 height and at least 300 pound weight really does make Walton small with his 6'11 height and 235 pound weight. He's no big man.
Anybody remember this. Bill Walton said that Yao had a chance to alter how the game will be played. I feel a little blue right now.
because he is retiring and with so much hope unfulfilled from fans of him, including the great like Bill Walton.
Good find. I still think Yao will pull a Walton and make one last return after one or two seasons more.
Here's an old interview I did with Bill Walton and his comments on Yao: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=160665 <embed width="440" height="420" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"src="http://v5.tinypic.com/player.swf?file=ht70ns&s=5" FlashVars="gig_lt=1231637283328&gig_pt=1231637287734&gig_g=2"></embed><br><font size="1"><a href="http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=ht70ns&s=5">Original Video</a>- More videos at <a href="http://tinypic.com">TinyPic</a></font><img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://counters.gigya.com/wildfire/IMP/CXNID=2000002.0NXC/bT*xJmx*PTEyMzE2MzcyODMzMjgmcHQ9MTIzMTYzNzI4NzczNCZwPTIzNDQ3MSZkPSZnPTImdD*mbz1kZmZjNDZlZDdmMDk*ZTljYmU*MDRiZGM4MWQzYjFkZg==.gif" />
NO! You're not supposed to bump old GARM threads I posted in. I only post in the Hangout, and 99.9% of the time, only in video game threads (other 0.1% of the time in Lady Gaga threads). This was supposed to be a secret!
