This has all the making of Gran Torino 2 Expect without the gang problem as far as I know. Or maybe this has the making of Lakeview Terrace 2
Old people get bored and lonely, and conflict is better than the nothingness of slowly waiting to die.
Honestly? He was a dick in the first place, but you let his dickness get inside you and grow over time. Now the whole dick situation has exploded. You're upset, he's upset - and it's just a big mess. You could have protected against this by dealing with it earlier. But you let it slide, time and time again, until the situation became too hard and too sticky.
you've never had punk kids in a car plow down your street taking out all the trash left on the street causing it to go everywhere? i put my trash out the morning of pick-up. it doesn't seem to hurt my grass if i set it there. now, if it sat there for several days...then it would be a problem as the grass would turn yellow and start dying.
I thought about this, and actually almost did it. I guess I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing. Parking, moving his trash, etc. I will try to ignore him as best as I can, and just let him live the rest of his years bitter.
He was being the dick until the end of the story then you became just as big of a turd by trying to act tough with your wife there AND you embarrassed her. Are you really going to talk tough to an 80 year old man who probably would be more friendly if you had just said hello to him when he was out in his yard? And your wife seems a little bit stuck up for not saying hello. My grandfather is the same age and he lives for talking with his neighbors. He's outside all of the time and the neighbors on both sides say hello and always ask him how he's doing every time they see him out there. He is old and wants attention so he put his trash in your yard. All he wanted is for you to pay attention to him and talk to him. You'll feel like crap when he dies. Apologize and have your wife bake him some cookies and become his friend. That's what he needs.
I only read two of your points and already had a conclusion. There are about 26 people here who have too much respect for the elderly.
Let me explain what is going on here. First off neighbors will try to get away with whatever they can. Moving property lines, getting you to pay for stuff, anything. You have to stop it fast because once they get used to it, it is hard to reverse course. He had high hopes for you. He gave you a week to mow your grass then decided it must be you didn't have a mower yet so offered his. Dandelions are no joke. You might think his remarks are snide but he is probably just wanting you to take better care of your yard. This leads me to his recent actions He probably feels you don't give a crap about your yard's appearance so he doubted you would notice or care. You could have taken care of this with a kind knock on his door and a simple yet stern request to move it. I am not defending him but just letting you know what he is thinking. These old farts can live forever so if I was you I would decide how you want to play it. Either total war, or pretend to be friends by finding common ground and making small chat. If you go with war just remember, he has way more free time and experience.
ha, pretty funny. Old people are either really cool, or major pains and need to die already. Just ignore him. If he keeps putting his trash in your yard, ask him again nicely to stop. If he continues, wait for the garbage men to come, roll his back away from the curb so it doesn't get picked up, then put it back on his curb full. Salt in the front yard goes a long way. So do flaming bags of poo.
Its your property. If some old, senile man tried to sell a ******* toilet in my yard. I'd be pretty pissed off; wouldn't attack him. Injuring an old man would harm anybody's reputation. Definitely would make sure my voice was clearly heard though. Kudos to you. LOL about the garbage truck thing. How come he's only considerate to the garbage truck crew and now anyone else?
Sorry . . . Filthy Nasty *ss toilet in my yard. . . that was definately last straw material there Rocket River
