I'm sure for all of us, it is dependent on what we can get in return. He isn't going to be cheap, and he may be the top bat on the market. The Mets being in contention will really help, since it means Reyes and Beltran are less likely to be dealt.

if age is a factor you might as well trade Wandy if you don't want to hang on to a valuable asset while not contending

One thing to look at, if the Stros can trade away Wandy, Myers, Bourn and Keppinger then even with Hunter raise, Stros are looking at a fairly small payroll next season. Trade for good young talent to add to the talent already there and in 2013 sign a key free agent or two...bammmm we're back in business without blowing up the payroll again.

that sounds like a great plan r934l. who's gonna execute that? Wade's not looking all that favorable with my jury.

Wade won't around much longer so it will depend on the new GM to make it happen. The people who got us in this mess will be history so it's a clean slate IMHO.

On the deadline, Wade has made some BAD moves but his trades haven't been horrible at all. I am fine with him making deals at the deadline, especially when you take into account he'll be trying to save his job.

Lidge for an All Star caliber CF.
Oswalt For promising SS, 1b and what will hopefully turn out to be a dependable starting pitcher.
    Cash for Sanchez
The Hawkins, Wolf and Keppinger deals.
Valverde deal was also a win.

I missed the Kepp deal when I tried to list all the deals the other day. The only loss was trading Lindstrom to the Rockies.

Feliz for Carpenter. Carpenter has already given us more than what I ever thought we could for Feliz.
