I'm very concerned about Rudy's health and have been for awhile. Haven't heard anything for a long time. He's a tremendous person to go along with being a fabulous coach.

I saw him maybe 6-8 months ago at the parking lot of Central Market. I said hi. He was very friendly and appeared to be in good health and spirits.

Doesn't Rudy work for the Lakers now as a scout?

Two of my favorite players, Calvin being my #1 guy prior to the Sampson/Olajuwon era, even more so than Moses, who was amazing, but not as likeable (and Calvin was closer to my size, LOL!). and you couldn't help but be a fan of Rudy T. Thanks, tinman.

I'm not sure, but last I heard he was. His son is a computer nerd and sold some statistical software to the Lakers (sadness) and may also work for them in some consulting role.

Man, how can anyone say Moses wasn't likeable? I could only understand about every forth word he spoke. :) I think he said scary stuff, but I'm not sure.

Now as to Calvin, if an old-fashioned telex had pitch, paused often 3 seconds to laugh, it would sound just like Murph.

Rudy has always been a normal very nice guy. I think his game is underrated here because he's essentially the "Moses" of always-suffering Houston sports fans.

But favorite pre-Ralph/Dream I've got to go with Moses although I think he said he actually ate a human being, but I dunno.

When Rudy T was still playing, he, Robert Reed and Mike Newlin would sometimes go play pickup games at the Wheeler Ave YMCA gym on Saturdays. He was one of the nicest guys you'd ever met - always approachable, friendly and fun to be around. The thing I'll always remember most about him as a player was that flat jumper of his - he'd shoot the ball in a straight line toward the basket and it'd just go in. It was a pretty sweet shot and always money.

Lol, my guess is that took 400 takes. I was a Rockets fan before Moses came, and when he got here I was in the 4th grade and I always watched the news because of sports, and those memories of going "What did he say?" still linger.

Yes, I can understand him now (met him once) but I don't want to offend by saying I thought him much like the Tazmanian devil in the WB cartoons. For a Big E diehard, it was all too cool.

tinman, thanks for keeping the love alive in every off-season. If I came off as a jerk, my apoligies.

I saw Rudy T at Memorial park about a year ago. He was hitting balls in the driving range right next to me. It was my first time ever playing golf so I'm definitely no expert, but it looked like he was easily crushing almost everything. I heard him talking behind me and even though I had never seen him in person I immediately recognized the voice. Decided to leave him alone, but someone else went up to him and he was very nice.
