Do not get the vintage watches. They are definitely not everyday watches. They are no longer water proof and the movements seldom are accurate. I know, I have a vintage seamaster. Like I said in the previous post, as long as the watch is name brand like Timex, and not a watch from chinatown, it will last a long time. Quartz movements are commodities, so it doesn't cost much to make a functional watch. The only feature that makes a difference is a sapphire crystal face since they don't scratch, unless you like the stuff that is on the Casio that was mentioned. Other than that, just get the one you like the looks of. No one will care or notice unless you want to spend a few thousand dollars on a watch. The only watch that people notice unless you are a watch collector, are Rolexes and that's only because of the brand and not the quality.
right in your range http://www.broadwaywatches.com/servlet/the-6921/Movado-Museum-Moderno-Mens/Detail for me, it fits every occasion pretty much
That was my advice to. I own a movado and I almost bought a swatch watch myself. Watches are for fashion anyway. For 75 bucks you can buy a swatch and you can use the rest of the money you saved to buy a Member's Only jacket.
Dude this is an obvious fake, why are you sending him to this site? Nobody will mark a movado down by that much.
I found that watch right now for around that price on various sites. There is a $4500 Cartier watch on that site along with other expensive Gucci watches. On a side note, Tag watches are more expensive right now. The watch I was ready to buy has gone from around $2200 - $2500 to over $3200 so I'm waiting now!
I'm a watch freak -- I would go with a Seiko for a ultra quality watch under $300. Seiko is the Honda of watches.
Can you expand on this? I took a 70's era Speedmaster to get serviced and while I never would dare test the water resistance of it, it keeps just as good of time as my Seiko Automatic movements.
You know how big the fake watch industry is? I'm not even going to try to prove this to you. Be my guest, go buy that 250 movado. Do what you gotta do.
You think Movado is a so high end watch or something. You can find them at the outlet for not much more than this.
It retails at $550 so it's not too unbelievable. I wouldn't buy that watch at even $250. It's not my style and would rather buy the Fossil watch that was posted in this thread for under $100. Michael Kors makes good watches under $300.. The Tag watch I was referring earlier is below. It retails at around $4500. My brother got it for around $2400. My cuz got the same one with the dark brown face and strap for around the same price. It's around and over 3k on the net now.. Spoiler
My experience is with a 60's era seamaster like the one posted. It would lose up to a minute a day, which I've been told is normal for this type of watch, and it rusted a little from the humidity in the bathroom. Its still a cool watch but I wouldn't use it as an everyday watch. I have modern seamaster that I've had for about 10 years, and I seldom take it off including showers and swimming in the ocean. I've even gone rock climbing with it on. The watch keeps on running like a champ and has no scratches on the crystal.
No, what I KNOW is that no watch like that is marked off half of the value. If you want to quarrel about that, fine. But not with me. If you want to do your own research, go to movado's website. Grab a list of the authorized dealers, and then see if you can find a price for that watch that comes close to this. Call me when that happens, I'd be glad to eat my words.
So my brother and cousin bought fakes bc they were about half as retail? Who gives a ish about how much authorized dealers sell watches for. People like you are the ones getting raped at places like the Galleria...ya i know you don't live in Houston. Btw, my cousin has 2 hobbies. Cars and watches. I don't want to get into details but it's a pretty ridiculous collection. He just picked up the blue face Breitling at $4200 (no tax) which was a steal.
This is the watch I wear. Lucien Picard Chronograph. Goes great with casual or formal clothes. I get lots of compliments on it. You can get one on overstock.com for around $100.
