Im talking like over 300 pounds.

My new obsession is watching those weightloss shows and I just cant fathom how someone could not control their intake once they started growing a pair of moobs. (man boobs for the ladies)
I just dont understand how people can get bedridden fat...Whats the damn deal?

Maybe stress and they just simply don't care anymore.

Also some people just have it in their genes to get big I think. Just like some people like me can never get big no matter how much I eat, I'm a walking stick.

How do people get addicted to the Internet?
    How do people smoke cigarettes?
How do people murder their babies?

I don't see why this is so hard to understand. It's all genetics.

I guess 300lbs could be "bedridden" fat if you had a small enough frame. At 6'0, 330 I am fairly vigorous. I can't run a mile or anything, but I can play half-court basketball, help construct a set for my acting hobby. I sometimes have large meals, but nothing out of the ordinary (and far less than my 135 lb brother eats).

Anything I say will be interpreted by some as excuse making and that's fine. My experience and mine alone is that while I can lose about 30lbs easily, the "permanent lifestyle change" everyone talks about that actually lead to losing the weight and keeping it off (in the 5 percent of seriously overweight people that actually do manage this) in my case, and for me only isn't worth it.

When I am spending most of my day thinking about what I "can" eat and how much I "have to" exercise to lose weight...or "get healthier", I feel like I am existing and not living.

Whereas when I am living life as a not dieting fat person, I mostly feel pretty good. I know this is borderline sacrilegious for some, so I am not advocating it for anybody. I am trying to cut the booze way back and exercise more, maybe show some more portion control. But as far as making weightloss a focus of my life, I am more than done. I think reading a book and improving your mind is equally valid (even if it can't be seen on the outside).

I am a single man (again recently)...and my lovelife is fine, the only health problems I have are a heel spur, a little knee and lower back pain, and I sometimes want to have a nap if I eat too much at lunch.

Again, nothing wrong with fitness, so if you want to pat yourself on the back for being fit, I will help cheer you on, just do it by saying positive things about yourself, don't try to accomplish it "on the sly" by saying nasty things about me.

Conservation of mass/energy would disagree with this.

Not true. Most people in my family are cows. The ones that are not considered cows believe in portion control and healthy living. It is all about the mindset.

Can't you say this for a lot of things? How do people get _____?

examples- smoking several packs a day, drinking to the point of getting several dui's, being in abusive relationships, gambling addictions, etc.

Actually, out of all those, being fat is probably the least harmful.

It's pretty simple. The human body tolerates excess nutrition remarkably well. It also tolerates nutritional deprivation remarkably poorly.

Say you eat 2,000 calories a day. You then start eating 3,000 calories a day consistently. Your body will adjust to 3,000 calories a day and that will become your new steady state need without too many complications. You may pack on some flab and become lethargic at first, but your body will eventually respond to the excess calories.

Flip side, you try cutting from 3000 calories to 2000 calories and you'll feel like total ****. Your basal metabolism will drop like a rock because suddenly your body is only getting 2/3's of its normal nutrition and it will go into calorie retention mode. Thus losing weight becomes incredibly difficult.

And to more directly address your post: At 300 pounds, its ridiculously hard to exercise or do anything a 150lb person can do to lose weight. Yet its still as easy to eat.
