i agree with this. i'm also guessing the same could've been true in 1995 or in the 1920s. i think we give those who lived in the past a little too much credit for being in tune with the economic and political realities of the time. don't get me wrong, i'm not defending our current culture by any means, i just don't necessarily think this is evidence of our society's downfall.

what are you basing this on? do you believe the prosecution in the o.j. case did a good job?

pretty much the same thing. White jury.
If this was a black girl, she would have been guilty. Same for OJ, it a white jury, he would have been guilty.

DAs sucked so bad and they got what they deserved. They need to quit their day job.

Maybe they can apply at the new "Casey Anthony Day Care Center" she is planning to open.

I thought she would be charged with neglect/child abuse too. Im not surprised of the verdict. Anytime a trial goes on prime time entertainment, the defendant walks free. See OJ and Blogoyavitch. When Blogoyavitch was retried w/out the public spectacle and done quick and efficient, they threw the book at him.

BTW, they made a mistake by going after death sentence. I think you need hard core positive evidence to go after death sentence and they didnt have it.

+1. They "overcharged" her, and that was their mistake. As a result, the burden of proof was increased 10-fold and the incompetent prosecutors couldn't dig out of their own hole.

Nevertheless, she will do some time for negligence. But again, the sad thing here is the child didn't get her justice. RIP Caylee.

Interesting that her parents are not there celebrating with her. I think that speaks volumes.

She fricken threw every family member imaginable under the bus to build up a reasonable doubt. Won't be surprised if her parents and siblings never speaks a single word to her again.

I completely agree. The decline has been happening for a long time. It is just more disturbing to me now when there are many severe issues this country is dealing with and people still prefer to watch this stuff.

Amazing that people think the prosecutors should have less of a burden of proof if they don't ask for the death penalty.

"If you want to execute her you have to prove her guilt, otherwise we'll let you just get close."

Like I said. I believe in my heart that she killed that little girl but there is no way anyone can argue that it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt that she did. The prosecution's theory of the crime was blown apart by the defense even though the media talking heads wanted to pretend like it wasn't.

There was no proof of any child abuse or neglect. The prosecutors didn't have any evidence of that, nor could they get a witness to testify to anything like that. Every witness who was called said "good mother" "caring mother" "no signs of abuse" etc. be they friends, family or doctors.
