videos like that just shows some people have no lives...... (not you Uprising, the people who catches stuff like that) I can understand videos of Family Guy ripping off the Simpsons, but Bay just some minor scenes and rehashed them in his own movies
It is kind of funny though he was able to fit that shot seamlessly in to the scene. Some stock shots are pretty easy to notice...in fact Bay used the shot of the "Treasury" in Petra that was in Indy in Transformers 2 and I actually thought that was incredibly stupid. And then composers using elements from past scores. Definitely noticed similarities with Avatar and Enemy at the Gates.
I went into this movie with low expectations that apparently weren't low enough. I thought the first movie was decent, the second one horrible, and this one marginally better than the second. I consider myself as having an above average ability to turn off my brain, but this movie just assaults you with almost every cliche in the book. Taken together with the bad acting, worse script, and bewildering plot transitions, they just completely overshadow the few cool action scenes in my mind. Spoiler Not to mention, what I was expecting to be an epic last battle fizzled worse than, I dunno, insert your most bonr killing event.
Took the kids and g/f n kids to it...the kids liked it and so did I...wasn't expecting an oscar performance...the new girl was hawt and there is tons of action...A little too much cussing for no apparent reason and it was about 45 minutes too long...other than that, I enjoyed it...my g/f and her daughter were bored, but they haven't seen the first two, which may be a blessing...
I'm fairly certain if you did the research you would might see the same scene in the chase scene from Bad Boys II as well
Saw it yesterday, my thoughts: -I honestly did think it was the best of the 3 movies, slightly edging out the first. Definitely not the pile of manure that was the second. -I like Alan Tudyk. He's a Texan, he was great in Firefly, he was great as Pastor Veal in Arrested Development, he's even done a Robot Chicken. But what the hell was going on with his character in this movie? Why couldn't he stick with one accent? Just an annoying mess. -On the flipside, Ken Jeong nearly stole the movie in his 5 minutes. -I was right with you when I saw the ship, Omega Supreme. -I was very disappointed with how Shockwave was used. I had seen all the hints that he was going to be a big bad....and he wasn't even bad. All he really was...was the owner of a pet from Tremors. -I liked how this was, of the three, the closest to being an actual Transformers movie as opposed to "Shia LaBouf, his out-of-his-league hot chick, goofy parents, and oh yeah, some big robot people." -I enjoyed how hard-core the fight and kill scenes were compared to the other two....but it ended up giving me a sense that they had been holding back and this was almost too much of a departure from what they established. -There weren't that many...but the plot holes that were there were massive. Spoiler The Decepticons seriously couldn't just fly on over from the moon? That wouldn't work at all? It HAD to be all of a sudden so they could take out US defenses? I mean, we SAW the Decepticons up there dragging the pylons away, so it couldn't have been insurmountable. But hey, wipe stuff like that under the "It's Sci Fi" rug. The one that pretty much kills the movie for me? Random new chick just wandering over to Homeless Bum Megatron, giving him the 70s cartoon style phony psychology, and convincing Megatron to go blast his partner in the back for no reason. WTF? Kills the movie for me. -Wreckers were fine, though I don't get the need to give a robot a beer gut. Beats what Bay did with the Twins, though. -Again, liked the kill scenes. Bumblebee and Prime went medieval. -Enjoyed some light connections to old school: Spoiler Ironhide biting it in a "No! You Can't Do That To Ironhead!" straight up murder managing to edge out his 1985 movie death. Nimoy was Galvatron in the '85 movie, so fun getting him back again. Megatron turning Lincoln Memorial into his throne, and the send the Autobots into space bits were in the original cartoon. -Laserbeak doesn't talk! -So they bring in a silver car in 2 to be Sideswipe...now they bring in a red Ferrari that actually should be Sideswipe...and call it Dino (Mirage). Similarly nerd-perturbed when they decided to call Wheeljack "Q" -Why even have NEST when all they seem to be good at doing is suffering 90% casualties still trying to take out Transformers with bullets? A bit of a parallel after watching 1800s Wild West cowboys trying to take down alien ships with pistols during the previews. -The Presidental doubles were pretty poor look a likes, even in the background. -At least Heidi Montag didn't manage to get cast. I still miss the hot Aussie blonde from the first one. -So the Transformers can change their alt mode immediately after taking a snapshot of some other vehicle...yet they never seem to bother with more inconspicuous forms when rolling through Russia or Iran on covert ops. Can't confuse those 9 year olds in the audience. -Intentionally passed on seeing this in 3D. Very happy to do so. I need my arm twisted at this point to step into those headache factories. Cheap/crappy 3D conversion manages to be an even worse epidemic than bad CGI. -I'm fairly sure the US would lay Chicago down with nukes. -I liked the Buzz Aldrin cameo...and the whole revised history of the trip to the moon subplot in general.
I, like anyone else with an iota of common sense, stopped coming into this thread as soon as the movie was released until I had seen it. It's been out for nearly a week. I liked the movie. The stuff like Laserbeak talking isn't a madface rant from me - more nerdboy hey! The only thing that really bugged me was the unbelievably weak Carly-Megatron scene - because it was (a) so ludicrously unbelievable and (b) basically determined the outcome of the movie. Even that would be like a 5 on my 1-10 mad scale. It's TFs. Even that as a lowpoint is so much better than the vomit that was Revenge of the Fallen (or Rise of Cobra).
forgive me for not assuming that everyone in here has no concern for others. Most others don't seem to have an issue with using spoilers when it comes to details in the movie (especially as detailed as you seemingly were..had to stop reading of course). Some people may actually come here to see if it's worth watching or even if it's worth watching in 3d vs regular...like me.
Be sure to let me know next time when enough time's passed. My apologies for not checking with you first.
i find it hilarious that you felt the need to give a smartass response to a very reasonable and simple request to minimalize spoilers...and that you still feel the need to defend your wrong actions (or lack there of by not spoiling)
Spoiler I'm thinkin Alan Tudyk had different accents because the gay persona was just a coverup for his German Special Ops past. I really didn't have a problem with it. Yes it wouldn't have been nice to see Megatron more, but I still liked how he was portrayed, to see how far he's fallen from the 1st film. Seeing him laying in a pile of trash, a third of his head missing, well the fact that some random human he doesn't know could convince him to show Sentinel who's boss only serves to validate the desperate situation he was in. Yes it was cheesy, but not a game killer. What I found worse was that Optimus needed Megatron to come in and kick Sentinel's ass so that Optimus could then finish them both off. I don't think he's ever beating a Decipticon leader on his own in any of the films. Their car form were stock cars, so it was kind of funny that one of them had a beer gut, reinforcing that driver stereotype, which isn't a full blown stereotype cause a lot of NASCAR drivers do have a little beer gut. NEST may have been using bullets, but I'm pretty sure their bullets were upgraded with Autobot technology. Cause those bullets were taking down the Decepticons. Plus they had a pretty bad ass scene in the end when they take off the legs of one of the Decepticons then bring him down completely with their guns. Hardly useless. Using nukes on your home soil isn't quite that easy I'd imagine. US has never used a nuclear weapon on their own soil (outside of testing?), let alone on a city that would kill millions of innocent civilians. Plus you don't even know if it would have an effect on the Decepticons. Shoot they could just fly away or blow the missile out of the sky before it has a chance to arm.
Okay. Truce. You didn't like seeing the semi-spoilers, I responded to the first post in a way that irked you worse. But that response wasn't smartass - it laid out my side fairly frankly. No "Jerk Store" pics included. We aren't seeing eye to eye here, but I'm not trying to flame you or antagonize you or intentionally ruin movies for anyone. You've got your own unofficial code for how spoilers should work, I've got mine. I get that everyone plays by their own rules and spoilers happen all the time, so I dodge threads until I've seen a movie. You're annoyed, but you can believe me that I haven't blown the whole movie for you. Yes, Laserbeak talks. Nimoy does voice work. A robot has a beer belly. Megatron looks like a street bum and doesn't snap his 0-3 decades losing streak. Ken Jeong is funny in the film. A side character dies. There is a red ferrari. Alan Tudyk is in the movie...and Heidi Montag is not. I don't think anyone that watched the movie would say that I "gave it all away." Even if I tried, there's no "he was dead the whole time" twist ending. It's Transformers. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm pretty sure I know how Green Lantern basically goes too. I'm sorry that I pissed on your day, but I'm not "wrong" because I didn't act the way you decided I should have to act. Olive branch - I'll tag the two things that qualify as minor spoilers.
I saw it in IMAX 3D and loved every moment of it. The 3D was well done. Probably the best 3D I've seen done for any film, but that only includes Alice in Wonderland and Tron Legacy.
I haven’t seen the movie but common sense and history tell me pretty much how it will end. All the details that were spilled in this thread are not going to decrease my experience when I do go to see it. If you’re going to see this type of movie for twists and a brilliant plot you’ve made a mistake. It isn’t exactly like emjohn told us Bruce Willis was really a ghost and that’s why that kid could talk to him but his own wife ignored him.
Comments and buzz along these lines are what'll dictate my choice in the future. Move reviews should include a side 3D rating. It's crazy how big a difference there is between good 3D and bad 3D.
WTF...Bruce is dead?! I was going to finish that movie tonight! Not really ...I know nothing is going to be a mindblowing revelation and such but i'd still prefer to know the minimum before seeing it (maybe). I certainly don't want to see a detailed listing chronicling cameos and other little surprises here or there. It's just no fun to watch a movie and think "i remember hearing/seeing that...when is that going to happen". Granted...i completely forgot what i read earlier so no harm no foul.
