Around the championship years I would have totally agreed with this statement. My fear is that it is no longer true and that that is the biggest obstacle to us luring top free agents. They want to be in NY, LA, Miami, they want to play for those crowds, get that national TV play, live in those cities. And we are not those cities. Houston is a fine city but nobody is dying to live here. And the shine has gone off our team as a contender or a favored franchise. We have had the money before, as recently as last summer. The players didn't want to play here.
They didn't have the money last year, all they had was a package of players. This go around, if they can trade scola, will have the money for 2 of those such players, plus a still good young cast. Last year was beyond a pipe dream, mostly p.r. dream machine.

His wife is from Fort Collins, and Nene has friends, followers and charitable organizations he supports here. He enjoyed playing with the new Nuggets, without Melo, after the trade. And he could be a power forward (the position he prefers) next season in Denver. And he and Lauren are about to have a son."
I can see it. Most definately. Overrated? Yes that too. When we get the Nene or the Gasol then thats proof. Not until after we do.
