The Rockets were only a few games behind the Grizzlies. If you remove Gasol from the Grizz and add him to the Rockets, it isn't even close.

^ Yeah maybe we were only a few games behind the Grizzlies but it's not like we would have beaten San Antonio in the first round followed by giving the Thunder a run for their money.

But if we had Marc Gasol. We wouldve made it to the western Conference or maybe the Finals.

On if we are a better organization than the Grizzlies? I dont need to comment there. I think you know the answer if we had Gasol and given a few more years. Certainly there are down times for each team. No need to start compairing us to the grizzlies just because of some short lived playoff success by that organization compaired to this organizations full history. We are talking a 44 win team with a 6 ft 6 center and no Superstar yet.. Come on. The talent is there.

The point is not whether Memphis may be better than Houston, or vice versa. The point is that Memphis is better than L.A.

Sorry not ready to down play our Rockets enough to say we are worse than the Grizzloes as an organization. Just wont. They wont ever be willing to make that team or able to make that team into a Championship contender. We can with our team and owner one day. Just dont come in here and tell me any free agents or trades are gonna make Memphis better than Houston Just stop with that Bozo the Clown talk because you sound like clowns trying to make the Grizzlies into juggernaughts and down play the Rockets.

Your reasoning is very sound and if I was the owner of the Grizzlies I would have made Gasol the highest priority over Conley, Gay, & Z-Bo regardless of the fact that he is going to be a restricted free agent. I think every other owner in the NBA would probably do the same thing because young and talented centers are the hardest to find players in the league. But the Grizz didn't do that. Which makes me think that either they didn't view Gasol as a higher priority as the other 3 players. Or they have a strong feeling that he wants to leave. So they focused on Conley, Gay, & Randolph instead.

Remember Memphis management hasn't stated that they will match any offer that Gasol receives. Which is very unusual because when a team has a high profile restricted free agent they want to retain they always seem to make a statement like that to scare off other teams from making an offer. That's pretty much standard practice around the league, but the Grizz haven't done that. The Grizz owner was quoted by Mark Stein back in May that the team would only aggressively pursue an extension if Gasol wanted to stay with the team. Which inferred that if Gasol wants to leave they will not match.

    http://www.iamagm.com/news/2011/05/16/michael.heisley.hints.if.marc.gasol.wants.leave.grizzlies.wouldnt.match.another

So I think there is an opening for Morey to work out a sign and trade deal if they can convince Gasol to come to Houston. Obviously there will be a lot of competition for Gasol, but I think we have a decent shot if he decides he wants to leave Memphis.

Would anyone be suprised if Marc ended up with the Lakers in some one sided deal ala Pau's trade for Kwame Brown. Shinanigans abound!

Chris Wallace going out of his way to make sure the Lakers win the deal. I can see it happening to stop him from joining the Rockets or a different team in the Western Conference.

First it would be "we need Gasol as insurance to help around whenever someone (Bynum) gets injured," until Bynum and Pau are packaged in a deal for Howard, and Bass.

    Howard / Marc
    Marc / Bass / Odom?
    Artest / BK Fry Cook
    Kobe / Andersen?
    Fisher / Blake

Link isn't working anymore, but I sure hope he wants out!

I mentioned earlier that I doubt he wants to limit his production playing next to Randolph ... Are the reports that the Grizzlies matched facts or speculation?
