But that leaves only 10% for insults to ToyCen, .gifs, and calling people stupid! Its just not worth it.
I am test driving an HP Envy and I am satisfied with a few notable exceptions. The fan is constantly running regardless of processor load or temperature and the fan is loud. The headphone port makse this soft, but persistant static noise if nothing is playing. The battery life is 4 to 5 hours with light use. These were never issues on the MacBook Pro line. But an Envy is 1000 pre tax while a MBP is 1200 pre tax. Are these worth 200, probably not. As for Windows 7 vs Snow Leopard, it's not a big difference between the two. And I am guessing 8 and Lion won't be that much of a difference either. If you need a new windows pc get a pc, if you need a new mac get a mac. If you don't, then just wait because the future is in tablets. Saying that, I do not think I will upgrade to Windows 8 when it comes out. Windows 7 is near perfect for laptops and desktops in my opinion.
LOL. By the look of their "quotes" my ignore list RedTampon and DonnaMost getting their panties all worked up with me crapping all over with true facts about their belove crApple. While crApple is so afraid they are trying to sue everyone and locking down everything. Apple fanboys are the worst trolls.
Then don't get bent out of shape when mac threads get hijacked. The way I see it, if you do it to him you completely deserve it yourself... And you're dead wrong. There are haters on both sides. Mac fanboys want nothing more than the destruction of Windows for them to be able to come back and lodge you an "I told you so" response. Windows fanboys do the same thing. If you want to draw a line in the sand saying one form of fanaticism isn't as bad as the other I won't help but laugh. The simplest solution is to be mature and logical even when the other side isn't.
I was at a similar crossroads when I got my envy. At the time, the i7 equivalent of a MBP was around $1800. I spent $1600 on my envy but I got both accidental damage coverage and theft protection (up to $1000) while the $1800 in Mac was just the laptop itself. Most of my department uses Mac/Linux, so there was a drive to get a MBP, but I felt like the envy was a slightly better deal. I love my envy. I swear I wouldn't have finished my thesis without it...
Yes, after 3+ years of Cowbop trolling, one parody movement totally justifies his preceding trolling and all trolling henceforth. Oh yes, we're certainly drowning in anti-Windows trolls who hijack tons of threads with useless (non)contributions and start flame wars in completely unrelated threads. In the context of this board, there is one person who consistently ruins tech threads. Care to guess who it is?
Serious question. How many versions of Windows 8 will there be? Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate again? Starter, Basic, Enterprise? Will the cost still be $100 - $200+? How does that compare with one version of Mac Lion for home users at the cost of $29.00? Why does MS have to have so many versions at such high prices?
although it is considered a major release by apple, in Microsoft terms it would be equivalent to a service pack. once os11 comes out (if it is called that), im sure the prices for that release will be on par with a major release of windows.
Because different users have different needs. If you have a netbook and you want to use your PC for word and the internet do you need media center? I'm sorry Microsoft doesn't take the asinine one size fits all approach apple does. Would you be happier if the market only offered 4 types of computers and 1 marked OS? I wouldn't be... There's no reason a laptop should run ultimate, there's no reason a desktop should run professional, there's no reason a netbook should be running anything but starter. If you feel that all these customers have the same needs, then I don't know where to begin with you...
It's called consumer choice that allows each consumer to only purchase the version that best fits their personal needs. Windows 8 might have more versions because of ARM tablets and netbooks. But did you know you have to spend $1000 Mac hardwares to run your $29.00 configure OS while with Windows OS you can put together a much cheaper PC system? By the way Mac Lion is an upgrade NOT a standalone product so you need the older OSX to install this while Windows Service Packs are free. Your Mac Lion wouldn't be $29.00 if people can put it into any machine. Since OSX are made to be bought with their brand hardware(Mac) that's the reason it's cheap.
OS X does not suck by any means and macs definitely are not inferior machines. as PCs are more flexible as far as upgrading and customization. Windows has been pretty solid since 2000Professional, XP Professional, and Windows 7. Vista was another Win ME imo. yeah macs can get expensive but when i piece together a PC i tend to end up spending more on my PC system than I would have on a mac. so that's kinda a wash. I have both Win7 and Snow Leopard but I still prefer OS X to Win 7. they serve different purposes but I use OS X more. dont understand what all the hate is about.
