This summer is kinda sucking for movies.

It's filled with sequels and a glut of superhero movies or a combination of those two. Not surprising?

And the only way it's going to be any different in future summers is if people stay away from those movies.

15 years ago, this movie was released

why can't we have movies with awesome kick ass speeches?

Comic book superhero movies terribly lacks this element... just past Friday, while watching Transformers, the morons were clapping when Optimus re-emerged to save the the kids... are we settling for garbage like that?

    Kung Fu Panda 2
    X Men: First Class
    Super 8
    Transformers: Dark of the Moon
    Harry Potter
    Cowboys and Aliens

That's a pretty good Summer...sure you got sequels and superheros....

But compare it to last Summer where your only big hits were Toy Story 3 and Inception (and I guess Twilight, blech)...I liked A-Team and other people liked Karate Kid (moderate successes possibly) But Persia, Jonah Hex, Knight and Day, Grown Ups, Last Airbender, Predators, Sorcerers Apprentice, Salt, Expendable (pretty good but wasted potential) were all pretty much duds.

So I'd definitely say there's been more quality this Summer so far.

Bridesmaids was one of the best summer comedies of the last few years

Super 8 was pretty good as well

But those are the only 2 that have stood out to me

I've liked the summer so far, X-Men was one of the better superhero flicks I've seen. Thor was good as well and comedies like Bridesmaids and Hangover 2 have been good. Green Latern was mediocre but at least I got to see it on the big screen and haven't seen Super 8, yet.

We still have Cap America, Cowboys and Aliens, Conan, Planet of the Apes and some interesting comedies to go.

X-Men was a good movie. Harry Potter 7.5 should be good.

Inception is almost as overrated as Resevoir Dogs

Agreed, a terrible bit of writing. I wasn't impressed with anything last summer and haven't been impressed with anything this summer (but I haven't seen X-men).

I don't know what the hell happened to me, the last thing I saw in a theater was Win Win and only because I was between jobs. I've seen the trailers for everyone of these things and can't even imagine going to see a single one of them. I'm not that old, and basically a hermit, so you'd think I'd just be hitting the multiplex every night or weekend. I think Netflix et al have just ruined the experience for me.

Well to be fair, I didn't see First Class (but want to) and I never saw Persia (refused to), Jonah Hex, Grown Ups, Airbender, Apprentice and Salt. Those looked like crap. Although Salt I've got on Netflix. Karate Kid I saw on dvd. Definitely find myself Netflixing more and going to theaters less. If there's a doubt in my mind about the movie, I'd rather not spend 5-10 on it.

I liked Thor, Bridesmaids, and X-Men. Hangover 2 was meh.

Still have to check out Kung Fu Panda 2 and Super 8.
