Did you ever hear Gene Peterson do the Rockets games on the radio? It's basically the same thing. It's play-by-play. I don't think you hear too many people calling games like that anymore. Now it seems like everybody sits around ragging on each other or babbling about crap while game is going on.

That's how play by play was done. It was all about the game back then. You could listen to the radio and know exactly what's going on in the game. You can't get that anymore because of the stupid tv personalities on the air today. They want to make basketball into a drama by talking about who said what. Basketball back then created the drama.
