Just an old school video. Just skip it to 2:55. Best part of the video.

Check out OT's coast-to-coast move at the 10 minute mark. Awesome.

Come on man, you're blinded by the TNT Kenny. Remember when we got him he was awesome. Pick and Roll, fast breaking, dunking..

    Kam,

Thanks for posting that! I didn't know youtube videos could be that long. Are there other Rockets games I could watch with that length of time?

    Thanks again.

This was only the 7th game of the season. Hence the announcer saying that Kenny had 56 assists so far that season, with an average of 9 per game.

That announcer is the LEGENDARY Chick Hearn, The Golden Throat. Chick Hearn has a STATUE at Staples Center, along with Magic Johnson, Wayne Gretzky and Jerry West.

Chick Hearn INVENTED the terms "slam dunk" and "air ball". And he's credited with inventing "finger roll".

Chick Hearn is the Michael Jordan of NBA announcers.

Definitely the offseason...talking about this game like it just came on last night. Why the heck did Chaney put in Sleepy Floyd in place of Kenny Smith at the end?

I remember this game. Definitely the Sam Perkins shot. Perkins was an original "Rocket killer". I mighta even known that kid on the court at the beginning

All the hub-bub about James Worthy and the mock cheers he was getting from the crowd was cuz before the game, Worthy was arrested in Houston for trying to pick up some prostitutes and got caught

Kenny averaged almost 18 PPG that year (17.7) shooting 52.0% from the floor. With 7 assists/game.

Rockets had 6 players averaging more than 12 PPG that year.

*yes I'm preaching to both the choir and the rooks here*

The previous year without Kenny, Rockets won 41 games. Basically the same core same coach, just add Kenny in place of John Lucas, Rockets win 52 games.

Rockets became a more slower paced grind it out team after that more centered around the bigs and defense, but Kenny could put numbers in the stat sheet if the system called for it.

Did you ever hear Gene Peterson do the Rockets games on the radio? It's basically the same thing. It's play-by-play. I don't think you hear too many people calling games like that anymore. Now it seems like everybody sits around ragging on each other or babbling about crap while game is going on.

Alright, he's the Michael Jordan of auctioneers, same difference.

Not like the guy in the Rockets booth is updated and in sync with the hipster generation.

Uh, no thanks. I don't keep my pants near my nipples like he does.

David Wood, and Dave Jamerson. Those were my heroes for some reason. Okay, maybe not my heroes, but I just remember them well for some reason.

I think it depends on the type of account you have. I think the longest I can post a video is about 15 minutes. That dude's channel is bad ass. So many games.

for some reason, I always thought he raped some chicks in a hotel room. My memory was fuzzy.

That's how play by play was done. It was all about the game back then. You could listen to the radio and know exactly what's going on in the game.

You can't get that anymore because of the stupid tv personalities on the air today. They want to make basketball into a drama by talking about who said what. Basketball back then created the drama.
