To me I love what they are doing with Windows 8. I always want to have that cool interface when I first saw it on Minority Report. I came across this type of prototype a couple of years ago and I was wondering if they will make this possible and Microsoft surprises me with this. It just cry modern to me. I just like the flow and fluid of an interface because I get bored pretty fast. It might be tedious to others and might get annoying but I see the potential for a great tablet/laptop with that Qualcomm dual- and quad-core Snapdragon combine with this Windows running on ARM. Windows running ARM is going to be something I hope. We just have to wait and see if this will hurt Microsoft if they decided to not include the Windows 7 interface option but incorporate the two together.
I got Mango yesterday. Let me tell you, if Mango and Xbox Kinect are any indication of the direction that Windows 8 is going in, I will poop a brick. I love what I've seen and Microsoft is making me real happy about having the trifecta...
I hate this new interface. It wouldn't be a problem but in a few more years when windows 7 is obsolete, you are going to be forced to run this. Microsoft is doing what it always does, showing a lot of flashy visual features that aren't functional for everyday users. Can you imagine an accountant doing this or a ceo?
I have been looking for a good tablet that runs my applications on win 7. I cant find a good one. I dont want lift my notebook wherever I go. Win 8 might be the solution. Desktop + Notebook + Tablet in 1 (Tablet) on the go
It's still the bloatware underneath. The pretty UI lulls you in to false sense of Android-ness. Still, I'm intrigued because it's at least an attempt to placate the masses. Speaking of Android, this device rocks! >> http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/geekend/asus-eee-pad-transformer-tablet-is-a-mixed-bag/7230 (I know the reviewer mentions Android 3.0, but the tablet is getting an OTA update to 3.1, which will improve its performance)
It looks pretty cool. The reason that Ipad 2 stands out right now is its strongly established brand. Its hard to beat.
I'm using the acer iconia a500 right now. I think 3.1 is rumored to have the ability to use a keyboard through usb so I just felt that was a better buy at $479 with a case and at 32 GB internal (costco). So far I'm enjoying the heck out of it reading online manga on it and stuff. I go to a lot of Chinese sites with it too so it's also nice to have flash and the extra RAM.
You guys are paying more for simplicity. That is NEVER good. Learning a complicated OS is better than using a limited OS. XP, Vista, Windows 7. All good, Windows 8? WTF. Cowboy_Bebop is the most massive hypocrite I have ever seen, haha. I don't put people on my ignore list because I like to see the massive amounts idiocy that spews out of their mouth (or rather in their post). Keep posting Cowboy, it keeps me laughing.
... and this is why Solaris and Linux dominate desktops throughout the world! It's just a hunch, but I think 97% of the world would rather have simplicity and would pay for it. It's the 3% of nerds and geeks that want MOAR COMPLEXITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually no. You still have the Windows 7 backbone, and can easily deviate back to that if necessary. The allure of Windows 8 is not just the tablet like interface, it is the fact that all 3 devices (PC, 360, and WP7/8) are interconnected. The fact that Microsoft is not partitioning their products, they are creating three products with an eb and flow of overhanging components that are elegant, intuitive and alive. You can always go back to the way things were, you can choose to have the old style, old interface, go to town.
Somebody needs to troll the s**t out of this thread to let Cowgirl_Bebop see how it feels. (But I guess in order for that to happen, somebody would have to care first... so nevermind)
Eh whatever. There are haters on both sides. When you make posts like yours, does that make you any better or any different than a troll in a Mac thread? Honestly, if you don't like it done to you, why do it to someone else?...
No, there aren't. No Mac enthusiast gives a flying f*** about Windows 8. Meanwhile, we've got cowpoke incessantly s**tting on every single Apple related thread ever posted on this board (and even start Apple flame wars in completely unrelated topics). That kind of behavior deserves all the mockery it gets.
