He should have been released a month ago, Mills downfall may end up being his loyalty to his veterans. By the way, why is Sanchez starting over Matt Downs?
And I just noticed that CJ finally got his 10th BB of the season. He still has by far the worst walk-to-strikeout ratio among all qualifed players in baseball but let's forget about that and just celebrate the moment. After all, it could be another month or so before he draws his 11th walk.
You know Stro fans that the Red Sox are really weak at RF and could desperately need a right handed hitter. What do you think Hunter Pence would command back from the Sox - realistic trade scenarios only please - not something r****ded like Pence for Lester straight up. If I am Theo, I might trade Doubront (lefty who could start or relieve) along with Anthony Ranaudo for Pence. http://www.soxprospects.com/
Throw in Reddick or Workman and we might have a deal. Happ is incredibly frustrating, sometimes he looks like he is going to become a very nice pitcher but other times he looks like a deer in headlights.
If I am Theo, I would probably want to hold onto those guys. Reddick may eventually be Drew's replacement. Honestly, I wouldn't have a problem trading the top 2 prospects in Kalish and Ranaudo for Pence. I am unsure if Pence is worth 3 top 10 prospects.
Aceves aka The Bicycle Riding Mexican gets himself into trouble with that walk. The one guy I don't want up there as a Red Sox fan is coming up in Pence. Francona making the right move by going to Bard.
Although he just walked a run in, Bard seems like a beast. I would consider trading Papelbon and using some of the prospects you might get to acquire a RF.
I guess a walk to Pence is better than the alternative which would have been a 2 run scoring single (or even worse). Still sucks to give up runs because of walks which has become an issue for Aceves of late.
Yea, Bard is downright filthy. I have been wanting him to be the closer for sometime now. With that being said, Paps has had a solid season, much better than last season. He is going to be a FA at the end of this season, so he might be, at best, a rental to someone.
The Red Sox don't need to trade quality players to accumulate assets. Beauty of being a big-time club.
True, they also spend serious money in the draft and international market so when they can trade for guys like Gonzalez or Victor Martinez, they have ammo.
