    Should we? Probably not.

    Absolutely, 100%, yes!

This guy put Houston back on the map, even though he didn't accomplish much (due to an injury plagued career). He is arguably one of the most iconic and recognizable Rockets of all time, and was the face of the franchise for a better part of the past decade. This alone gets his jersey retired.

But of course the optimist in me hopes that he can have a Grant Hill like come back, from all this injuries that prevented a possible HOF career for the big fella...

HOF career, not; but ambassador of basketball, yes. I think Rockets should retire his number because he made China, a basketball country before it was a strong soccer country. Without Yao, the Rockets would be just a team in China, now and forever, when they think Rockets, they think Yao. I believe Yao has done what the Rockets want him to do, one reason I believe they kept him forever even when value was at its highest and his durability at the lowest. There is a reason why Lebron, DWade, DHoward, Kobe, etc... go there in the offseason to promote their brand. I believe Yao, if he retires will likely have the current role of Bagwell and Biggio.

Yao isnt a HOF(but he would of been if it wasnt for his injuries) and therefore his number shouldnt be retired. I would wait a few years to give someone that number though.

He will have his jersey retired here. If they can retire Drexler's jersey then they can retire Yaos.

If Jordan can get his jersey retired in freaking Miami, Yao should get his jersey retired in Houston.

It's more contributions to the game of basketball, than actual court stuff.

If Guy Lewis isn't a HOF coach, there's no way Yao is a HOF player. I love Yao and hope he can get back on the court but the dude is no HOFer. He was on the right track, for sure, but injuries cut him well short. Sad. Since Yao is no where near a HOF player, then we shouldn't retire his jersey. (But if we did, I wouldn't complain cause I love Yao.)

Yao will have his jersey retired. You can take that to the bank.

Only on CF would a HoF not be worthy to have his number retired.

I vote no; it would be like an eternal reminder of some of the most disappointing seasons in Rocket's history.
