Well that's weird. How did you know Respert only played bball for two years but now know he had stomache cancer? Most bios would have mentioned his career was cut short because he had cancer.

As for everyone piling on you, I think the way you gave a backhanded comment on Respert rubbed half the board the wrong way. If you were really sad to see him go liked the job he did, you shouldn't have mentioned how he was a bust in the NBA and how he's a big warning for every lotttery pick out there.

It like if Isiah Thomas got Joe Dumars to talk during his induction into the HOF and Dumars proceeded to talk about what a crappy GM Isiah was.

Ok, I think the piling on DD needs to stop now. Him and YoYo had their clash, along with CX, but enough is enough. Some of you are just taking opportunity to get your jabs in since you know he really isn't in a position to defend himself. He made a mistake with the Respert analogy, and I'm sure he regrets it more than anybody.....and NOT because he got called out for it, but because he didn't mean for it to be so crass. Let's get this thread back to where it needs to be:

This is part of the reason why the attention turned to DD, nobody has anything else to say about the thread except generic phrases like "Wish him the best", "Feels sad he's gone" etc.

Apart from a few people who met him personally 1 or 2 times, nobody really knows what he does. Hell, I didn't even know this dude existed before he was let go. He's not high profile like CD or Mchale so I doubt very few people even know what kind of impact he's had on the rocket player development when he was here.

It is pretty funny that DD is such a Respert fan that he knows exactly what pick he was and how long his career was but has no idea why it ended, lol...

Next time if you don't want to be humiliated, try not trolling and actually stay on topic, troll.

Let me start off by saying that I am a very frequent reader of these boards but never get around to posting much.
With that being said, I think it's ridiculous how we have taken this thread and turned it into a DD bashing thread. He made an off hand remark about Respert, it turned into a big deal, and i'm sure he regrets it NOT because of the criticism he received but because we've all made off-handed remarks and regretted it immediately.
It's a shame, as rockets fans, that we can't even stay on topic and express our gratitudes for the job that Respert did in his time here working with our players, instead of having a cyber-spat between each other. Hat's off to those of you who managed to stay on topic and shared my same sentiments.

It is in the article genius.....but not the bit about cancer, which I missed.

BTW- I have met Respert, and thought he was a great guy.

The point was not to rag on him but to temper the peanut gallery and their unrealistic expectations.

I don't give a hoot about the folks who pile on because they got banned when they argued with me, or they have some inner hatred for the way I post, or don't like me personally (Though most have NEVER even met me).

Life is too good to worry about folks with their panties in a wad....

Leaping to conclusions is more fun........

I really did laugh out loud when I read this. The rest of the board lectured on unrealistic expectations. Seriously?

I won't take the time, but I'm there are posts out there on the All-Star potential of VSpan. Let's not forget how the Rockets couldn't live without Streetball, aka Von Wafer. Too funny.

As far as Respert goes, I would guess it's a combination of timing (contract ending at the beginning of a lockout) and possibly clearing some room for new hires that are McHale guys. They already forced Finch on him, have to let him have some say in the rest of the cast, right?

Got to love the BBS mythology that is created, simply amazing.

VSpan - only wanted to find out if he could play because Rafer sucked.

Von - liked him as a backup scoring guard with elite athleticism (According to Morey).

Love the grudgers all coming out of the woodwork.

DD should be the last person to talk about tempering expectations. And taking shots at a how good man's career ended just to make a lousy point, regardless of how it was due to playing with cancer, is classic him.

I have 5000+ posts on this site, and I am on this site almost 24/7.

And I can't remember the last time DaDakota posted a post that was either informative, analytical, helpful, evaluative, on-topic, or just "good" in general.

I don't think even 1 of his "76,810" posts on this site is a good

You can just see every one of his posts are just ego-boosting, attention-whoring, thread-derailing (to himself, of course), trolling, desperate fame-wanting, shameless self-promoting, arrogant,

You can just see it in his "DD" "sig" at the end of every post.

He simply wants to dominate the board with his trash talk.

Because he knows that if he were to stay on topic and post for the sake of discussion and communicating with others genuinely, he'd just be another one of us.

His posts are all designed to grab attention to himself and getting others to catch on his hook into his spin-cycle of endless nonsense arguments which is never related to basketball. When he finds you replying to his carefully-designed "provocations", he knows he's got you fished out. Now come the further baiting from him to make you respond to him for pages.

You know why he's never angry when so many of other posters get angry at him?

Because he argues for the sake of arguing and promoting and spreading his influence. Not because he wants to prove a point about basketball. He knows if he retaliates back, the other poster will simply walk away. And then how is he going to get any more responses to his posts?

Fellas, its time to stop feeding this joker of a troll.

LOL Just had time to read this thread. DD, you're famous my man. Some people value what you have to say or think to an entire new level.

So the man thought CB sux at first and AB is better than KL, so what. I personally don't even remember some of the things he said a few years back.

Today steak is my favorite, tomorrow chicken is best! Deal with it.

I think the main reasons everyone gets annoyed with DD are (1) the sheer volume and frequency of his posts and (2) he often purports to a have a better understanding of the game than most (cue the constant cites to how he and Morey think alike or how he will reference coaching decisions when they match his opinions but disregard other coaching decisions as wrong when they don't match his opinions), even when he is frequently proven wrong. The latter results in a condescending posting tone (whether he knows it or not; my guess is he doesn't do it intentionally or even realize he's doing it, but when that many people are noticeably irritated by you, either everyone else is in the wrong or maybe it's the one person who's doing something wrong) and, when combined with the former, it's no surprise so many people have a negative reaction to DD's posts.

Having never met the man it is certainly wrong to make personal attacks against him, but at least when it comes to posting on this forum, a little less DD visibility is probably a good thing.
