Let me preface this by saying I'm not a boxing fan...I'll watch it if it's a huge fight, but it's not something I follow. If I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about, then that's probably accurate. Well I was just watching First Take on ESPN and they were talking about the upcoming fight between Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye. Klitschko was being interviewed and was talking about the t-shirt that Haye wore to the fight press conference. The shirt, as seen below, depicts Haye holding the severed heads of Wladimir Klitschko and his brother. Possibly NSFW Spoiler In response, Klitschko said "this is over the edge, and I will punish him for it". When asked to clarify an earlier quote about giving Haye a "pizza face", he said "if he goes down, he has to get back up and continue to fight until I finish the process...and of course, during the 12th round I will give him first, a pizza face, and then I will knock him out with a steel hammer." I don't know what the hell a pizza face is. But I want to see it. If it's all staged, which I don't think it is, then the promoters have done their job. I really want to see this fight now.
The Klitschko's are pretty much the only boxers I really care about. Those dudes are about as close to Drago as we can get in the real world.
Boxing is just a great sport. Hopefully some up and comer will turn it around one of these days. Compared to Ali, Frazier,Norton, Big George, Mike, Evander, Holmes etc....MMA just blows ass.
Boxing should just forgo the pay per views until they get their viewership back. Imagine if they aired big match-ups on national TV. THAT would be good for long term viewership. Increase the fan base and make it seem like something more than just a niche sport.
That's a little harsh from Haye. Ballsy, but harsh. I will watch this fight. MoBalls, get the TV ready, putito.
Haye won't last 5 rounds with a real heavyweight. He is a cruiserweight chasing $$$. Bet Klitchscko and the under.
This is going to be one of the biggest heavyweight fight in years, but Haye is coming up from cruiser weight -- i'm not sure how he can make up for the 50 or so pounds he is giving up.
This is possibly the best heavyweight fight, at least in terms of build up, since Lenox and the Klitschko's fought each other. So, yeah it is a big fight. Also, I believe a great brawl kind of fight is what both of these fighters hope to have happen, win or lose. They need a marketing bonanza to breathe life back into the heavyweight division.
I'll cheer for Klitschko. The Klitschkos are like Germans by now, they have been living here for so long.
MMA is still in it's infancy. I'm a fan of both sports, but MMA is far more dynamic. (Boxing is a large part of MMA, remember)
