http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/sam_amick/06/30/kings.trade/index.html In Hickson, they will be filling a frontcourt need with the 6-foot-9, fourth-year pro who averaged 13.8 points and 8.7 rebounds last season. The move is even more necessary in light of the likely departure of center Samuel Dalembert, as sources close to him say he was disappointed when extension talks went nowhere with the Kings and he is now far more interested signing with a contender in free agency. Sign him up, Daryl!
Dalembert wants to sign with a contender -- how is this good news for Rockets fans? Ba-dum psh. I think the Knicks and Heat will be the frontrunners offering the full MLE.
If Sam could stay on the court he would give us what we need (defense and rebounding), but alas we're likely not contending for awhile so I can't see us paying the freight on Big Boy.
I don't understand why we couldn't have offered J. Hill, Thabeet, and a protected 1st rounder to the Cavs for Hickson. Morey is slacking....
Because Omri is more valuable to the Cavs than all that, potentially (not knowing about the 1st rounder). Hill sucks. Thabeet is horrible. Casspi ain't great, but is a decent young talent at more of a position of need.
You're right, it is good news that Dalembert wants to sign with a contender, because he isn't very good and it would be a mistake to sign him.
Add Dalembert to the list of guys who don't seem worried about drastic salary cuts threatened by the owners.
oh em gee. so just to make sure i'm getting this right....this lottery team will instantly be a title contender when they add samuel dalembert? yeah, i think heard that one about brad miller last offseason.
Shhhhhhh, you're not suppose to tell the Cavs that we have 2 stiffs! 1st Rounder has a chance for the Cavs......I think Daryl could of offered something. chadfordinsider RT @STEIN_LINE_HQ: Protection specifics on Kings to Cavs picks: Protected 1-to-14 in 2012, 1-to-13 in 13, 1-to-12 in 14, 1-to-10 from 15-17
I honestly don't understand the thinking of what appears to be 95% of this board. Why would we be interested in a bandaid center like Dalembert? He's 30 years old and we're years away from contending. At best, he'd help us barely slide into the playoffs so that we can become first round fodder. But that's not all - if we don't sign a major free agent this year we're in a position to possibly have the cap room to sign as many as two superstar free agents in 2012 when guys like Dwight Howard, Chris Paul and Deron Williams could all be available. You guys want to blow that opportunity for guys like Nene or Dalembert? Ridiculous. Those guys aren't going to help lure a franchise player to Houston - they're only going to hurt our chances at drafting one.
Also missing the obvious: JJ Hickson is a PF. Imagine what would happen if Morey gave up another 1st rounder to add our 5th PF..
Dalembert with Chuck backing him up would get us deep into the playoffs if not the finals. Besides, Brad played zero defense.
