Babies on both sides...they need to stop crying.

The owners need to honor their mistakes and the players need to got off their high horse and negotiate. They haven't given up crap since this whole thing began.

Makes zero sense for Hunter to take $1 in salary. Negotiating a contact is what he gets paid to do. If anything, no salary might make Hunter more willing to cave to Stern's demands.

Battier needs to shut up and salute, or find another line of work. Dissent is not tolerated in unions, especially for something as petty as that.

Like the article said, Battier was just asking a question if there is a lockout, what other players might say or think. He has balls for say that. Props.

DeMaurice Smith seems to do fine on $1.

That's downright stupid. The CBA negotiations and everything that comes with it including the lockout is the most important part of CJ Hunter's job. It's the equivalent to the playoffs or even NBA finals for players.

Why the heck should anybody implicitly demand that he should NOT earn money during that time?

it is a matter of interest conflicts. The reason the NFL guy said he would only take that salary for the time the NFL is locked out shows the players and the owners that he is committed to making it work and getting them back on the field and he won't get full compensation until he does that. It is just a matter of principal. Under this deal, Hunter can sit pretty and say I am not budging, essentially he doesn't have to even work anymore, he is in no rush, he is getting his full salary while the players are losing money and exposure, popularity, time every 2nd. He will fight for their cause, but this checks him to really say yes we want our rights, but make sure you are committed to putting us back on the court because everyone except him is losing until then.

Exactly. Battier is just putting pressure on Hunter to get this done.

    Battier just hand-to-the-faced Hunter.

Shane's only saying that because he doesn't have a contract next year.

Shane is angling for his post NBA career. I think its a fair question, and one in which Billy Hunter will have to address. Its interesting that people on this board have a negative opinion of Shane's comments...why do you care?

Then does it make sense for Hunter to get paid a salary any time AFTER the contract negotiations are completed?

Billy Hunter has owned Stern in negotiations the past 2 times. He should get some credit

For sure Battier just asked the question that at least 100 other players didn't have the nutsack to ask.

    How do you figure that?

Hunter is accountable to the union. They can fire him if he's not doing a good job.
