Actually, the Rockets have 14 players under contract for $49.79 million. The Rockets will actually have substantial cap room if the "soft cap" is calculated at 51% of BRI net of benefits like it is under the current system. Last season, the cap was $58.04 million, given the revenue growth, we can probably expect that number to go up substantially, perhaps by as much as $2 million. The owners, of course, are proposing to control costs, though the mechanism is likely to be a "harder cap" (similar to their flex cap proposal) rather than perhaps messing with the soft cap level itself.
Big money for a career 14 and 7 guy that is nearly 30???? That is a big risk man... He shoots 60% yes, but he is not all that on the defensive side of the ball. Averages under 1 blk a gm. Lowry rebounds better than this dude. There are other guys that may not give you the pts but will give you more in terms of rebounding and defense. We are not lacking in offense,
The Nuggets aren't going to let him walk. They're simply delaying to take advantage of giving him a reduced offer after the new CBA. The only way we get Nene is if everything goes sour in Denver and he wants to go. He has said repeatedly that he wants to stay in Denver. Could that change? Yes, if they lowball him and he knows he can go elsewhere and get substantially more money. But it's not likely. We're dreaming.
sign in trade is the answer...this is the time daryl cashes all of our trade picks. If he lets another team accquire Nene outside of the nuggets and does not accquire a top center or ELITE player...I say fire him. (i know im gonna be hated on) He cant be allowed to miss out on so many guys...eventually he has to do a trade that hurts. We have enough youth. Let them take any combo of thabeet, hill, bud, twill, c lee, dragic, flynn, (euro guys draft rights) (several picks.... whatever it takes) Only players we need to try and retain here is lowry, moris, and patterson...if they prefer veterns trade them martin and scola if needed. Itd be great if we could pull off Hill, Thabeet twill and every pick we have to offer and sergio lull...or dragic. even take back a poison contract...if they have one. More likely it will cost us a Martin, Lowry, Lee or Patterson to get this deal done.
I've been on Clutch fans approximately 5 times longer than you, and I don't see a source either that states that he is likely to come to the Rockets.

wont happen. Nene will not play for a bad team at age 30 unless $ is big. Rockets wont offer big money for another 30 year old role player.
Agreed. Throw the same money at Gasol, but be patient if we don't get him. We're not under the gun. We have been and will continue to be discriminating/efficient...no need to jump on an overpriced dude like Nene....
Nene and his wife just had a baby, the wife's from Colorado, her family's there, by all accounts he's happy there. As long as the Nuggets like him---and why wouldn't they?---he'll stay in Denver. Unless they just really, really, really can't afford him. The Nuggets would be stupid to extend him before they know what the new CBA is, so can't look too much into that.
