Agree, except the Pirates played kids all the time that just didn't work out while we are paying a guy 18 million to sit in LF, 4 million for a .220 hitter at SS and 5 million to reliever with a rotator cuff tear.
And about $12 mil or so next year... On a related note, the Myers bobblehead would look more realistic if he he was facing the other way looking over the fence.
I REALLY hope Crane follows through with what he said at his presser, build from within. Spend money on draft picks, international signings and scouting only with a few bargain FAgents here or there. Carlos' decline has been VERY obvious all year but this game has been a good example. He has hit two balls to the warning track that in the past he would have crushed...bat speed is gone.
Was just realizing that tonights agme marks the exact halfway point of the year, games played wise. Makes end of season projections easy. Hunter Pence 18HR, 106RBI Carlos Lee 10HR, 84 RBI
I'm pretty sure that's John McClain from the Chron sitting behind Drayton. This is cold but his head/neck remind me of...
VERY nice job by Myers to keep this game close. Say what you like about the HRs given up but he will battle.
Myers has matched the number of HR given up last year in less than half the innings. On his way to his most HR given up in a season (I think he lead the league once before)
There is no question that he's a battler - on and off the field (heh). If nothing else, hopefully that rubs off a little on the younger pitchers.
It's kind of sad to see Miguel Tejada with the worst OPS in the NL: .566 in 269 PA Even more sad - at least for Mariners fans - is Chone Figgins' OPS: .481 in 273 PA. That is scary bad right there.
My guess, Myers just did wonders for his trade value...really nice performance. I had a conversation via twitter with a writer from another mlb team and asked him about Myers and his value, he basically said that there was serious value but his personal issues were still a red flag for many teams.
To those wondering where F-Rodriguez is, I believe JD mentioned that he has to stay there for ten days before he's allowed to come back up to the majors.
