If Lowry puts up 20/8 for the whole year I'd probably die of happiness. Never thought Billups was who he modeled himself after.
I dont know if I want him averaging more than 20 a game though, 17-18ppg is fine. We have alot of players to spread points around with. He needs to continue to pass first, except for in clutch time. If he is averaging 20/8 that means he is being more ball dominate. Our offensive works better when its free flowing
We've got Yao out, maybe done, and Brooks is gone. I don't see a problem with him going for 20 is his efficiency is solid. We're not loaded with proven 20ppg scorers anymore. Martin and Scola are it.
He's sayin all the right things. Last year our captains were Battier and Hayes but this year I think our collective ceiling as a team will be higher with a guy like Lowry leading the charge. People look up to him and they can see what it takes, to be the best guy on the team, to be the guy who never backs down against his man (and we saw him go toe to toe with Paul and Williams many times last year, it was the first time he actually could match them; forget Mike Conley who he routinely smacks around nowadays), to be the guy who had huge flaws in his game starting out and worked his ass off to turn them into strengths. I hope what he says about the Rockets players are true also. He wasn't talking bull because he added that Chandler and Donatas would be unlikely to get any PT starting out, but he also made particular mention of guys like Morris and Hill. No matter what you can basically pencil in Morris for 20+ minutes right out of the bat because of how NBA-ready his game is. The question is whether or not the coaching staff have the guts to start him over Budinger. We all know that he should. But how long will it take? As for Jordan Hill, we've got ringing endorsements now from Patterson and Lowry. Is he fool's gold like Kevin Martin? I echo the sentiments of many here when I say that my perception of him will increase significantly the second he gets a damn haircut. Other than that though, he's easily got the strength to play center, and I know the debate has raged many times in the past about whether he should play center or PF. My opinion is that he's equally lacking in basketball IQ to play either position offensively, so why not let him try to clog the paint as a Kendrick Perkins-type center. Perkins doesn't block shots either, but he sure can play defense. You enroll Hill in the Chuck Hayes School of Post-up Defense and give him some more aggression which is what it sounds like has been happening, and all of a sudden he's a viable rotation player. As for the rest...Hasheem Thabeet is getting stronger. Great, check back with us in 2012... Patterson is Patterson, which we all know means that if there was justice in the world and basketball players were judged by their all-around game then he would be starting over Scola... Flynn really, really sounds like a younger version of Brooks (did you know he's 26 now?) except maybe with more defense and less of a shot. I just don't know if he will mesh with our team before it's time for us to waive his last two years (4.3M in 2012-2013), plus he needs to beat out Dragic. And TWill, silence speaks louder than words.
Actually, Golf helps your shooting stroke. In Golf, your wrist play are a major role in your swing. As in Basketball, your wrist are just as important in your shot(except of S.Marion...lol). Being able to exercise and train those muscles by playing Golf can really help stabilize your shooting form. Playing Golf also could have helped Kyle's improvement in shooting last year?
Jason Friedman... the best thing to ever happen to Rockets.com. Lowry, of course, sounds great. I liked his comments about the young players. You could tell he likes Morris a lot and seems to think M&M will have an impact as a rookie. At least I got that impression. Kyle clearly has a lot of respect for Patrick. What he thinks of Patterson is no surprise, but the comment about Jordan was nice to hear. Those comments keep appearing, so maybe we'll see a much better Jordan Hill this season. I hope so!
(Superfluous post, as if they all weren't so--) Players I want us to keep at almost all costs: Lowry, Martin, Patterson (Hayes and Yao at "reasonable prices") Players I like a lot but would see the logic in trading if the right deal came along: Lee, Dragic Players that I am indifferent towards and would base my opinion on them being traded more so by what we get back than who we lost: Scola, Flynn, Hill Players I would be mildly happy to see traded: Budinger, Thabeet, TWill Players whom the book is still out on: Morris, Motiejunas, Parsons
Not surprised about Morris. Listening to Morris talk, leaving aside the silly bravado stuff ("Carmelo Anthony with Defense!"), the guy is a sounds like a very smart basketball player who talks quite smart about the game. Just go watch the interview he did with Warriors TV guy Jim Barnett when both of them were watching tape of some of Marcus' college games. The discussion goes into much more details than your usual player chatter. Most of the times, all players say about what they are doing at a particular time is "I'm just being aggressive!"
