What about Emeka Okafor? He didn't live up to his expectation, but the dude still averages 12-10 with a 1-2 blks per game. This dude is very underrated in all aspects of his game. He's a top 8 center in the league and he's 28.
With West opting out of his contract, Landry most likely leaving for a contending team, and no draft picks, they could really use a PF especially if they want Paul around for the 2012 season.

    Rockets get: Okafor
    Hornets get: Scola, Hill, T-will

Here's how our team would look like

    lowry/ Dragic/ flynn (exp.contract)
    Martin/ Lee
    Morris/ Bud
    Patterson/ Hayes?/ Motie
    Okafor/ Hayes?/ Yao?/ Thabeet (exp.contract)

I've kinda been coveting Okafor, too. He's nothing special but he's a pretty good rim protector and he can run. I think he's a local guy, too. I'd trade Patterson and Hill for him just to shore up the damn middle at last.

    I wouldn't give them Patterson.

I'd be packaging bud, thabeet, twill, scola, Flynn, and picks for a center - depending on which big we are talking about. Twill bud and Flynn being the optimal trio from our end. We have not shot at Marc, nene, and oden!

Teams with marquee centers are not interested in trading them. The best marker for what constitutes fair value today for a good center was the Perkins - Jeff Green trade. Jeff Green is a young player with allstar potential (personally i think he plays out of position at the 4, but just my opinion). We'd have to give up a Jeff Green esq player, and that's if we're lucky (Ainge made a huge mistake breaking that team up before their playoff run). Do we have a Jeff Green on this team? The truth is ...we don't. We have guys that if they take the next step, will be comparible (probably the closest would be Patterson, maybe Morris if he makes a strong showing for ROY). Our only hope is that a GM sees the collective wealth we have, and decides to part with a solid center for a package of Lee, Dragic, Pat etc., or picks, or whatever. Otherwise, it's going to take Martin, and that's probably not a trade-off we want to make.

Aruba, I'm more for acquiring a Joel Anthony - Larry sanders - Omer Asik type big. Guys who we won't have to give much up for but could still be very useful.

I think that's a good strategy as well. I'm just not big on overpaying guys who have a history of being inconsistent and underachieving. At $10 mil per, Dalembert still wouldn't even be the 5th best player on our roster. But I agree with you that if we can find a good center for the price of a Courtney Lee, then that's a much better alternative than taking a big risk on Oden or Dalembert.

I think the Rockets need for a center is greater than OKC's need for a back-up SF, which would cause OKC to probably ask for more than just Bud. If that's the case then it's not worth it.

Okafor is gettable. That would definitely spell the end of cp3 in Nola.

I really want Omer Asik. I think he is worth what they might be asking. I would be willing to do the deal for him. Even if it means losing Patrick Patterson in the trade. You already have Marcus Morris. Honestly I would rather Morey include Marcus Morris in that trade to get Asik. I know they would want Courtney Lee. Perhaps Courtney Lee and a draft pick? Thats fine too. We have enough bodies on the roster to do that trade.

Lee plus Morris or Motiejunas for Asik? I don't know if we're getting the short end, but it would make our next season interesting.

No, just no. This Asik thing has gotten a tad bit out of control.

Motiejunas, Patterson and Morris hold more potential value then Asik. Courtney Lee and late 1st = Asik trade value.

People need stop letting the fact that we need a center, delude them into thinking Asik holds more trade value then what he actually does.

Morey shouldn't do a lopsided trade just to fill in a need..

If they traded Okafor for Scola then they'd become the Rockets.

Give me Mirotic and I accept this pack. (Not happening)

I think Morey should find a valuable backup center for Chicago (via 3rd team) and maybe then we have a deal.

I think that's a pretty fair trade. They can retain Kurt Thomas. Noah / Thomas / Hill trio would be fine. Plus Gibson if they go small. It's a good fix at their wing positions, which they needed.

Asik - Yao - Hayes - thabeet: i'll take it.

I just dont know that Asik isnt worth it. Have not seen him play enough but know that he is real important to what the Bulls do defensively at times. He is only on the bench because Noah is such a great center himself. So? I dont know. He is starting material to me.
