try to dump another 5-7 M salary in TBT and JH or trade scola for picks and TE. Then offer MAX or sth like 80M/5 years to Marc Gasol. I don't think Memphis can afford to match it given Randolph and Gay's monster contract. Memphis is not a big market, no way they can swallow 3 max contracts. We are a top 4 team in West with Gasol.
zazas career avg is 6.8 pts 5.1 rebounds .4 blocks... jordan hills career avg 5.5 pts 4.3 rebounds .. zazas career HIGH in rebounds was 7.9 rebounds and he has not blocked more than .5 blocks per game ever (hills highes is .7 blocks) . how is he an improvement over jordan hill much less throwing in a dragic?
I agree! If we offered that kind of money they couldn't match it and we would be a top 4 team in the west with Marc Gasol.
what is the big deal about larry sanders? i am not a huuge jordan hill fan but it seems to me if we are going to be trading him and another player (like a flynn or dragic) we ought to get a player who has better stats than hill. Sanders stats are almost identical to hills so what are you guys seeing in him that makes you think he is an upgrade? same thing with all these guys that are playing 10-15 min for their teams, just like hill who gets this much time.. if they were much better they would be getting more minutes. i feel like people in their cities prob feel the same way about them as we do about guys like hill.

You don't really think Morey will pay 10 million for Dalembert, do you? You think a 30 year old defensive center is worth Scola and fillers? That's like a David Khan move! I can guarantee you Morey won't sign Dalembert to a contract equivalent to Martin's. Someone else might give him that ridiculous contract, but I doubt it.
Haywood is making $7.5 next season, Dalembert is 2 years younger and is a better player. Now $10 mill for center who can give you a double double and interior presence is the going rate my friend. Now, under a new CBA with a low hard cap I can see how that deal looks stupid. However, A new CBA like that will lower the salary rates for all players not just 7 foot shot blockers. But as it is with the current CBA, $10 mill for someone like Dalembert is a good price. Dude, you have guys like Gadzuric, Diop and Thabeet going for $5-6 mil and they are permanent bench warmers.
That's too much for Gasol. If we have to pay that much we will move up to #4 in west, but that's our ceiling. If we want a shot at #1 we need to try for Dwight.
Haywood is overpaid. If Morey wanted to pay this much for a 1 dimensional center, then we would have gotten one by now. Remember Gortat? Morey didn't think hew as worth 5-6 million, and he is more skilled offensively than Dalembert. I just don't agree that because alot of the centers in the NBA are on bad contracts that we have to had Dalembert one. Diop got that contract for projected value, and I think everyone can agree that it was a mistake. Regardless of contract, the main problem in that trade is: We are NOT getting fair value for Scola.
Maybe so, BUT we can sign Gasol to a max deal and it then gives us a valuable piece that can be used in a trade for Howard. It would also help in making numbers match (having a big contract makes trades easier). Magic would have to take a look at a Marc Gasol deal if Howard decides to leave. He might be expensive but they would be tempted regardless. Or you rather have the Grizz offer the Magic a Marc Gasol + Mayo/Gay deal?
Larry Sanders should have a no trade clause in his contract, if for no other reason than to include the heading: NO FLIPPING
Somebody mentioning signing Dalembart for 10m per is a prime example of why we should be trading for a center who's in the midst of a contract as opposed to signing one now! A contract to some extent is a snapshot in time about the supply and demand of a player's ability / projected ability vs. the alternative options. These redic moves like picking up Oden for 9mil, etc. is precisely why we should trade for a contract when bigs were more logically valued! Plus an option to do 2 for 1s, 3 for 2s, etc.
Yeah...my point is the rockets wouldn't pay him or Dalembert 10 million. Other teams may overpay, but Morey wouldn't. That's what I've been saying all along.
