I know we're not. Griffin had better #s than Aldridge, despite LA having several years of NBA experience over him. Exactly what is your argument for LA over Blake? That he blocks .6 more shots a game? Once Blake improves his FT% into the high 70s, he will be unstoppable. He's a superstar in the making and he might already be one for the 2011-12 season.
Funny, Love has better numbers than both of them. But I suspect numbers would be devalued by you if we were talking about Love's and not griffin's. LMA took his team to the playoffs and that's all the argument we need at this point. BTW, I always get tested when discussing Kevin Love. Not meant to attack you, per say.
You need a lot better argument than that, especially when being in the playoffs is dependent on supporting cast/coaches/etc. I'm a big Kevin Love fan -- you're talking to the wrong guy. He's easily in the top five, though I'd still probably opt for Griffin over Love. I'm not sure Love will be the type of player you give the ball to down the stretch of close games.. I don't know if he has enough 1-on-1 skill for you to consistently rely on -- I think Blake does. That said, Love's a hell of a player and will be a joy to watch over the next ten years.
Sam Smith is smoking crack. It's not just misrankings here or there, it's complete shockers throughout the lists. The most egregious of which, as has been mentioned, is Kevin Love. 10th best? Behind Luis Scola? Really? Love's sophmore season is on par with the best Scola has put up. And his last season demolishes anything Scola has done. Stupid [Sam Smith]
Even though Chuck Hayes is under size, he should be on top over most those centers. At least top 20. He's definitely better than Kurt Thomas...

Speaking of Bargnani, how exactly is he ranked #21 on the center list? I mean, seriously...21 PPG doesn't get you higher than that? Sure, they're basically empty stats on a broken team but how are his contributions any different than, say, those of somebody like Monta Ellis (who was ranked 6th among SG's -- a much more competitive position, mind you)? Pretty ridiculous. P.S. Josh Smith ranked as a three pretty much tells you all you need to know about Sam Smith.
Any time you put out a list with 125 names there will be room for debate, but overall, I think Sam Smith does a decent job with this list. He obviously didn't factor in potential which angers a lot of people and made it based on who was ready to perform today. The biggest issue I have is with Griffin being placed at #2 and LOve at #10. This is probably because Griffin is a more conventional PF and Love can float around the perimeter knocking down treys, giving off the illusion he doesn't like contact which isn't true if you've seen him play. And you don't pull down 15 rpg if you shy away contact - no matter how poor your team is. Even in his list of centers, Smith favors the traditional post up guy over the new age dynamic C. Which begs the question, how much basketball has he been watching? My current top 10 PF's would be: 1. Dirk 2. Amare Stoudemire 3. Zach Randolph 4. Kevin Love 5. Blake Griffin 6. LaMarcus Aldridge 7. Chris Bosh 8. Pau Gasol 9. Kevin Garnett 10. Tim Duncan And wow, didn't realize the state of conventional SG's was so poor. Three shoot first 1's beating out traditional 2's in the top 10.
Current Ray Allen over Kevin Martin is a joke. Conley over Lowry is a joke. Kobe over Wade is a joke. I personally don't agree with Rose over CP3 and Monta ELlis over Kevin Martin as well as where Joe Johnson is. Bynum being 11th for centers is a complete joke. Ty Lawson 11 spots behind Ray Felton seems really weird. Personally, Scola and Griffin are too high.

Bargnani is really skilled and polished for a big man, but he does almost nothing a center should. Absolutely horrid defense, no presence in the paint stopping penetration, still haven't figured out how to rotate on defence, can't rebound to save his life, hangs out in the three point line, rarely goes to the lowpost to score points even though he actually has post moves, just overally very soft and sometimes streaky.
No scouting report necessary here as I'm very familiar with his game. That's not the point. The point is how are his empty stats at #21 on the center list any different than somebody like Monta Ellis at #6 on a much more competitive SG list? Do you mean to tell me if Bargnani played for the Rockets and averaged 21 PPG this past season that you wouldn't be outraged to see him ranked right next to Kurt Thomas and Omer Asik on a list like this?
