It's story line related. According to most Wrestling websites, Cena will threaten to quit at the end of the next RAW unless he gets to fight Punk, Vince obliges and but says if Cena loses, he's fired. Still, haven't seen anyone with that Mic skills since the Rock came back to WWE.
My sentiments exactly. Cena did the unthinkable; he made me want to stop watching wrestling when I had watched it loyally since I was about 3.
Lol you know wrestling did a good job when people are wondering if it was scripted or not. This is the one thing missing from today's product, the thin line between fantasy and reality.
I don't get it. Are they trying to make him a heel? It seems like they're trying to make him the bad guy but everyone loves him. They want Cena to be the face of WWE but everyone hates him. Why not just give the people what they want?
Little kids love him buys all his colorful tshirts/chains/spinny belts/action figures here comes the moneeyy Vince loves money more than true fans.
same goes for me I stopped around early 2001 just before i think he got in...kind of saw some wrestlemanias and other ppvs off and on since then but could never really understand, let alone like, the whole cena phenomenon. it kind of needs to go back to the attitude era a bit, maybe not as explicit, but it seems a bit too tame compared to the past.
Really? Everyone loves him? He gets boo'd out the building with very little cheers. Plus, he's been a good guy, he wasn't that great. He plays a better bad guy. We don't get this sick promo or any other if CM Punk was a good guy. I, for one, hope he stays heel. Oh, so fans that are loyal to WWE, buy PPVs, who follow the product regularly and actually spend money to support the product are not "true fans"? Those Cena fans are about as true WWE fans as you can get. Those little kids are the WWE's biggest fan base. They should cater to them, not loser 30 year olds who want to rain on the kids parade by being cool and booing the #1 guy. Say what you want, but Cena is their biggest draw. The WWE is a business first. If they catered to the small Internet wrestling community that tune in every week just to b**** and complain, the WWE wouldn't even be in business right now.
Bingo. If they catered to the small Internet wrestling community that tune in every week just to b**** and complain, they would be 1990s era ECW. ECW was exactly what you're describing, and just like ECW, a company like that would eventually be gobbled up by a company that produces a show that appeals to the broadest audience and not to the minority. I'm sorry, but anyone who denies Cena's popularity isn't living in the real world. The live events I've been to, his cheers are deafening. The thing about Punk is, he is, in my opinion currently the best wrestler AND the best guy on the mic in the entire world right now. It's really amazing to see. And, if he's already re-signed, which I suspect, then this is going to lead into some truly legendary heel work. And, with a guy as vanilla and "superhero" as Cena in the top spot, that's all wrestling needs to take a huge leap forward in popularity again.
What Punk has done is what good wrestling storylines are supposed to do make everyone talk about it. The crap now days is never talked about except between a small amount of hardcore fans. It seemed to be that way back in the day, now its just mainly sucks. Anyways, I have started to pay attention here in the past couple of months because of CM Punk. If that had to make him a face, at least, make him a Stone Cold type character that's not completely a cheeseball like Cena, but not a mega heel either. Just keep him as a sort of Antihero type. I dont know if that would work in today's WWE though.
Apparently, this is a rehash of an old story line that he has down before. I'll go ahead and find it on youtube, mean while, watch this! I've seen this before, but I want to share with you guys. <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rdRo9JsfBZM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> It's pretty funny.
Destination X is tonight on Pay-Per-View. Here are the matches: Abyss (c) vs. Brian Kendrick 1-on-1 match for the World X-Division Championship Christopher Daniels vs. A.J. Styles Samoa Joe vs. Kazarian Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn Austin Aries vs. Zema Ion vs. Low Ki vs. Jack Evans - Four Way match for a TNA/IMPACT Wrestling contract Alex Shelley vs. Robbie E vs. Shannon Moore vs. Amazing Red - Ultimate X match to determine the #1 contender for the World X-Division Championship Douglas Williams vs. opponent TBD - Open Challenge match
I agree with what someone mentioned earlier. He does play a better villain. Rock fans will tune in just for the Rock even if he is the villain. Also, he isn't going to be around for long, because he's expensive. Vince is using his name and trying to bring in all the Cena fans while he can. Stone Cold vs. Cena is probably going to be the bestseller when the Rock is gone.
Only way I'll be dragged back to wrestling is if HBK, Stone Cold, The Rock, and Mankind had a FFA TLC match.
Destination X was a good wrestling event with no gimmicks and no entertainment BS, I recommend watching the replay. The match of the night has to be the 4-way match between Jack Evans vs. Low Ki vs. Austin Aries vs. Zema Ion, it was fast-paced and all-action. Here are the results from tonight's event Spoiler Kazarian defeated Samoa Joe Douglas Williams defeated Mark Haskins Eric Young and Shark Boy defeated Generation Me (Max and Jeremy) - Tag Team match Alex Shelley defeated Robbie E, Shannon Moore and Amazing Red -Ultimate X match to determine the #1 contender for the World X-Division Championship Rob Van Dam defeated Jerry Lynn Austin Aries defeated Zema Ion, Low Ki and Jack Evans - Four Way match for a exclusive TNA/IMPACT Wrestling contract Brian Kendrick defeated Abyss - 1-on-1 match for the World X-Division Championship A.J. Styles defeated Christopher Daniels
