Short term starters/backups, mostly backups - Joel Przybilla, veteran who can rebound and play D -Kwame Brown, good rebounder -Samuel Dalembert, best veteran center avaiable -Nazr Mohammed or Jeff Foster, average overall center Maybe, work in progress: Joey Dorsey, Arron Gray, Kyrylo Fesenko Long term starters - Marc Gasol, restricted likely to stay with grizzles - Nene, just hope he doesnt resign, must offer 9mil to 14mil - Tyson Chandler, most likely to resign - Greg Oden, injurie prone but is an above average center - Deandre Jordan, restricted so must offer around 4mil to 8mil to acquire -Spencer Hawes, restricted offer around 5mil to 10mil to get In my opinion we should sign either sign Kwame Brown or Dalembert short term or try to sign Greg oden for a cheap price or Deandre Jordan. this is the most likey options.
Good realistic options: Dalembert Greg Oden Przybilla Being desperate: Joey Dorsey Kyrylo Fesenko Aaron Gray Pipedreams: Marc Gasol Tyson Chandler Deandre Jordan Nene Need to bring Yao Ming back first.
If Jordan Hill and/or Hasheem Thabeet are traded, I wouldn't mind signing either Kyrylo Fesenko or Alexis Ajinca as a potential backup.
see the Aaron Gray thread.... Does the prospective center meet the following qualifications: 1. 7 ft tall 2. Weigh at least 270lb 3. Alive (you will note Thabeet only weights 267 lbs)
I like to be punished. it turns me on. that's why i suggest that we double down on injured centers. we resign Yao, and then we sign Oden to an offer sheet too rich for Portland to match Seriously though, I'd take a shot at Oden. Does anyone have any idea what he's worth, and how substantial the long-term injury concerns are? I heard one of his legs is drastically longer than the other. I heard he is now wearing a padded shoe to even things out. Doesn't sound good.
If healthy that is a no brainer. I hope Yao can get healthy enough to make one more attempt at coming back.
Portland will most likey take his qualifying offer of 8.8 mil so maybe around 4mil to 6mil to maybe get him.
oden is worth a shot though. He is 23yrs old and can play ball. Great rebounder, shot blocker, post defender, and can dunk. At least sign him for 2yrs wtih team option.
For some reason I could see us going after kwame, but dalembert somehow if we could pull that off instant playoffs. All this beast does is grab rebounds and block, intimidate shots. He what thabust should be. I dnt see les taking the check book out on this guy.
Gasol and Deandre will only be signed by another team IF they are heavily over paid… then the grizz and clips will laugh and say sure u can have them for 10 mill a year.. go ahead.. not worth it long term..

i wouldn't mind dalembert… we need defense in the worst way.. Chandler isn't anything special.. in N.O. he head cp3 throwing him alley oops and in dallas he had Kidd throwing them to him… he has no offensive moves and know his role.. I think Dalembert could at least rebound well and block some shots. don't know about the grabbing oops part.. haha
