Exactly. Hayes just turned 28 recently also. The Rockets need a couple of young vets esp if we trade Scola.

Their window isn't closing anytime soon.

Look, I love that Kmart is a borderline all star on offense, but there are 2 sides to the floor and he is borderline D league on Defense.

Any argument that does not include both ends of the floor is sort of missing half of the equation.

If you have Kevin Martin as your primary scoring option, you need a shot blocking big to protect the paint from all the layups he gives up.

I liked it too, I just don't bother with arguing old points, some which are correct, some which are erroneous and some which I was wrong about.

It happens, people just hang on to the wrong stuff, and I don't pay enough attention to what others post or when they are wrong....not productive.

The board takes their own views on what each of us is saying anyway, if you asked most people about what I thought of VSpan for instance, they would think I thought he was great, but if you actually read the posts, it is an entirely different story.

Oh well, makes it more fun for some I guess.

Just to make it clear DD, I see what you're trying to say. Kmart's value is probably as high as it will ever be right now so it makes sense to trade him while we can get a high return and get a chance to develop the younger players.

In my personal opinion though, if the Rockets were to make a run THIS YEAR, keeping Martin would be the best option as, even if he is a one way player, there is no sg within reach that is more capable than him.

This is just my opinion though and I respect you to yours. I don't understand why some posters(just a few though I'm not saying everyone who disagrees with another poster is hostile towards him/her) have to be so hostile.

Guys, I haven't read through the whole thread, but as a Kings fan I got to see Martin plenty. He's a very good scorer, but he brings pretty much nothing else to the table. His defense is atrocius and although he's an alright guy, his ego is bigger than his game. In that article he said top 5 SG? That's pure delusion.

You can't build a team around Martin. He's not a star, he's a very good scoring roleplayer. Yes, he can put points on the board, but that's all he does. He's not a winner IMO. He doesn't like to get his hands dirty.

Listening to the calls to upgrade our two isn't unlike the Lakers calling for an upgrade in the middle.

They suck at two positions and all their idiot fans talk about is centre, really isn't unlike here and our shooting guard.

    DD,

I think you're one of the best posters on the board, but I think what many people would like to see is a little more recognition of your wrong points. You're a high frequency poster, and I think a certain amount of two-sided responsibility comes with that. When you put your opinion out there so often (as you should, it is a forum), you need to be prepared to admit when you make a wrong point. And not by cloaking it in a general "I was wrong about some points" sort of statement that comes pages after the heat of the back and forth banter has subsided. I know your aim is typically to walk away from the debate when things start getting a little testy and the discourse devolves into something that resembles a 2nd grade shouting match over a game of four square (which many times is the right move), but at least let the board know you think you made an incorrect point before you go.

Kevin Martin is the best player we had since prime tmac period. Last time I checked, Brooks is a Phoenix Suns and there's a reason why. My Lakers and Suns buddies tell me they get nervous when Martin has the ball against there teams. They should be! The dude is a threat and makes putting up points look easy. Refs give him the edge too which would drive any opposing team's fan crazy. Pair him up with a solid defender and you will look at him differently. Other fans would love to have him and some here wants him gone. Unbelievable.

Kevin Martin has never been overrated. He is seriously underrated by some folks here on CF.

I have done that a ton, but it gets lost in the shuffle or noise of the masses.

Go look up the "Eating Crow" thread about Lowry I think.....I totally admit I was wrong and he was way better than I gave him credit for....

The issues generally come when people take what I say, and extrapolate their own beliefs out of it, then say....."Admit you were wrong"....when I never said anything they are accusing me of saying.

VSpan is a prime example of that, all I ever said was play the guy as a backup to find out if he could be part of the future, because Rafer sucked and clearly wasn't.....but somehow it became that I was his number 1 fan, when the actual posts when read in context are completely different.

So, you can't argue that, it is just a waste of time, it is like mythology, people are going to read posts in their own viewpoint of the poster, and may miss the context all together....

Langhi is another one, I was being sarcastic and over the top about Langhi, and it grew into this..love thing for Langhi....now admittadly, I thought he would be better than he turned out to be, but I never thought he would be a star.

There are some I missed completely like Marcus Fizer - thought he would be great.

Oh well, you just can't control the crazed masses.

    :)

You know what, I never knew Kevin Martin only shot 43% from the field. He's lucky he gets to the line so much. I can't believe he shoots a worse percentage than Kobe freaking Bryant.

This is an obvious statement that can be said about every player in the world.

Are you serious? or my sarcasm meter is broken?

He scores a lot of points, why a team doesnt want a player who does that?

KMart shoots a better from the field than Kobe, Rose, Westbrook, among others.

    Please stop spreading misinformation.

KMart is maybe one of the top ten SG's in the NBA. I just think that he'll never be a star in the league.
